I'm going to make a fake-face blog / gear review site, and going to use only BHW providers for it (Or at least 99% from BHW).

My background:
I'm doing high-scale PPC as my day job and additionally, have a little agency where I manage campaigns for clients. Overall I have 9 years of experience with Google Ads.
I've read a lot of posts here on BHW and on FB groups about SEO for years, I know the terms and can hold a basic conversation about SEO tactics.
I have a small PPC blog, where I experimented with writing techniques and got some basic experience with managing a WP site (I didn't post there in years, and this project got me inspired again).
I know the niche I chose from the inside out - both as a consumer and as a seller, chose a few sub-niches in a way that I think they compliment each other and was lucky enough to find some low competition keywords with volume and buying intent.

So far I:
- Bought a domain
- Researched my competitors, found articles I want to be re-written and found how and where they need improvements.
- Wrote the specs for the site
- Posted a thread in HAF to hire a WP freelancer (posted it on upwork too to be honest, but I don't think I'll go with any of them)
- Bought 40 articles around my niche (my niche is too specific for most bulk articles sellers, so will probably have to have it written for me)
- Bookmarked everything I think I'm going to need from the marketplace (Wikipedia links, PBN links, Content, etc)

Things I still need:

1. Logo
2. Sorce for images, will probably use some sort of free site with minor editing - Planning on taking some pictures by myself for the reviews.
3. Alternatives for Adsense that are likely to accept new sites, (On day one I'll fill the banner placements with links to the money pages).
4. Affiliate networks with offers in my specific niche (I have a few, but need to apply once my website is ready - BTC payments?).
5. Sign up an email marketing platform (Mailchimp? any recommendation will be helpful).
6. Social presence. IG is relatively easy for this niche, will have FB and twitter too.
7. Site speed optimization.
8. Voice over actor for video reviews (I have a lot of time until then, but It's a part of the roadmap).

Milestones:
1. Ranking my first KWD on the first page
2. Getting first payment
3. Get a product for a review for free
4. Get an offer to do a review
5. Break even (cost vs income)

Cost to this point:
Domain, hosting (shared with my blog at the moment), content - Overall $40,
Expecting about $400 more for WP site, logo and site speed optimization. and Additional XXX for links starting from the moment every page in indexed properly.

My goal here is to get my hands dirty doing SEO, and as soon as the site is ready I'm going to buy the Kyle Roof courses subscription to have a more structured way of learning it.

Hoping to post here regularly, even in between proper updates, share small successes, failiaures and struggles along the way. As a way to get advice, feedback and to keep me committed to this project.
I learned a lot from reading "My Journeys" and hope that someone will find something here useful too.

Cheers.

Good luck with your journey.
BHW marketplace provides basically everything you need to run a successful website, so you'll be fine.

You should write up some specific goals - like number of visits, earnings, with a specific time frame in mind.

Unfortunately, I don't have enough experience with that type of stuff to set goals this specific. I get your point though and will try to keep myself focused towards this type of goals.

Some of the point is to experience with SEO and social traffic.
If I'll find some KWDs where the earning per visit makes send, I'll definitely try some PPC too, but the cashflow needs to be considered too (paying gogle and bing on thresholds while getting income on net 30 or 10).

That's okay, you will adjust your goals as you learn.
At least start with a specific monetary goal in mind.

It is very hard to filter. This thread hopefully will help other buyers for seo services.

I agree, but I consider it as a part of the learning process. Hopefully I'll be able to share some insights without being too specific.

A small update:
While waiting for the site to be set up I created some social assets (FB page and group, twitter, pinterest, IG).
Collected a big list of relevant FB groups to share some of the articles with.
Recieved the logo and ordered another batch of contect (both from the marketplace)
Tested a few content providers here on the forum and I think I found a few sellers I can count on.
Now I'm looking for a rewriter, having some threads bookmarked and need to send out a few test projects, hopefully I'll have some great rewriters soon.

So far the costs are:
Website: $150 (Decided to post all the content myself, in order to both save some money and to get used to do it)
Logo: $20
Content: $85
Domain: $9
Hosting: Currently sharing a hosting plan I had before

Usually I lose some of the excitement of a new project withing the first few days, but here it didn't happen.
I assume it's because of two resons:
1. Never did anything like it before. Wanted to get into this type of project in years.
2. The niche is something I'm really interested in. I consider myself very lucky to find it not so comprtitive in terms of SEO and potentially rewarding.

This is where most projects fail. Initial excitement is always motivating and good to get you started, but know that it WILL go away sooner or later. It's important to keep grinding and working on this after that stage, even when you don't feel like it.

I'm all in on this one.
These's almost no more "I'll do it when X happens" left. Everything is 99% ready now, and it's time to get the ball rolling.

The past few weeks were a great lesson for me, especially when it comes to two things:
1. Quality of cheap content
2. Any connection between TAT and the actual delivery time is purely coincidental.

I don't mind it that much though, because these 2 lessons worked out well together. The site is not ready, so I have a lot of time rewriting everything I got so far.
Just a quick note, the developer is overdelivering, I never expected such a good job, worth every second of delay.

Anyway, I decided that the site is ready enough to start approaching vendors by offering them to send some products for reviews, with a promise to send it back after I've reviewed it if they ask me to.

We'll see how it goes..

No links yet, just starting now.
Started to get a small drip of traffic from tier 3 countries from keywords ranking on pages 3 and 4, most of my traffic is still from social (400-600 users a month).
Thinking about applying to Adsense, but I think that it'll slow my site's ranking improvement at the moment.
Approved for amazon, and currently applying to other affiliate networks that work in my niche, just to have something ready.
Starting to write down in a google sheet all of the links I have to other sites, so the effort of changing them will be more efficient.

There's one cost that I didn't consider at first (which is a really stupid move on my side) - the first few products to review.
It's true that I didn't even need to try a lot of the products I wrote about, but some have 0 reviews online, and will probably be shared by the brand on social, as I'm reaching out to the brand on every review I'm doing and currently in great terms with most of them.

The past month was a great lesson about being naive. I bought about $200 worth of rubbish content. Ended up using just small parts of 2-3 articles. No matter how many recent good reviews a seller's got - 99% is pure garbage. I'm targeting a fairly technical niche, but I always ask in advance if they can pull it off. They always say they can, then never do. No matter how many revisions we go through - Content writers just don't do their research.

That's it.
Currently waiting for 2 other test orders to arrive. Hopefully, I'll have something that can be even remotely close to being posted.

BTW, I'd love to know if anyone here got a recommendation. I have a few more sellers I'll test in the upcoming days, but I'm starting to run out of options.
