Hi, I?m Kate! I?m a huge lurker and I must say that more than 50% of my time on these forums are spent on the Journeys section.

I?m new to internet marketing. My ultimate goal is to quit my day job and support my way through college without student loans.

I?m getting started right away. I?m starting a blog where I?ll post at least twice a week. I have 17 keywords ranging from 800k monthly searches to 3k monthly searches. I?ll primarily drive traffic through social media with Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.

    Daily To-Do List

    Pinterest
15min - Pin recipes, progress pictures, diet motivation
15min - Comment on, like & re-pin other users pins

I will always write my own comment and captions, especially when I re-pin on other content. I feel that it?s important to be unique and establish my brand.

    Twitter
15min - Favorite, re-tweet, and reply to tweets by industry leaders
15min - Get involved with active consumers, send & reply to DMs

I?ll primarily use Twitter as a b2b tool to build relationships with experts in my niche.

    Facebook
15min - Check groups & liked pages in my niche so I can aggregate content
15min - Post on my page at least once per day

I need to be sure to keep up on Facebook, because it?s one of the most visited and it?s easy to get buried and forgotten. I don?t want to stop showing up on people?s feeds!

    Google+ & Instagram
    15min - Respond to niche-related news & comment on posts on Google+
15min - Post my own pictures & comment on others

I suspect that these two sites will be the least converting and lowest traffic drivers. I have Google Analytics installed, so I?ll monitor that closely and adjust my focus accordingly.

    Forum Posting
30min - Post 1 topic, respond to at least 5 topics per forum with a quality response

Once I start earning some money, I plan to re-invest it into forum advertising. They?ve always been extremely high converting in my opinion, and because I?ll have already established myself at each of the forums I think my ads will convert really well.

    Blog
30min - Write original content and work towards a twice weekly blog post

I want my posts to be longer and more content-rich, so I don?t mind spacing out how often I post. I like to do my blog writing after I?ve done social media activities for a few reasons.

    • Traffic is required to get any sort of sales, and so I?m making sure it?s my number one priority.
    • I?ll be warmed-up to start writing some really good quality content, because I?ve already done some smaller, lighter writing by posting around.
    • I?ll have connected with my target audience and be really in touch with what they?re asking for, so I know what content to create to help them to convert into sales.

    Analytics
30 min - Run reports on analytics and conversions, check on A/B split tests, and tweak.

If I?m not constantly testing them I?m missing out on profits. I know I can get a little bit obsessed when it comes to this kind of work, so I?m going to limit myself to only 30 minutes! To make sure I follow that, I?m going to do it last thing every day.

    Total time: 4 hours/day

The sooner I can quit my 9-5 job, the sooner I can up this to a full 8 hour workday, 5 days a week. I?m really excited to do that. For that to happen, I?ve decided that I have to make at least $2,000/month. Wish me luck!

Sounds like you have a good plan. I would set weekly and monthly goals. Goals are always a good way to motivate yourself. I think you are going to do a good job but you can't give up!!!

Thank you! I'll stick to it, I promise. I'll update this thread a few times a week.
Thank you. That's a good idea, I will set some goals!

    Weekly Goals
    6/8/14
Have 5 posts written on the blog

    6/15/14
Complete review of affiliate products I'm promoting after they arrive in the mail

    6/22/14
Have a list of quality blogs, forums, and social media accounts sorted by PR with at least 100 resources
Establish a reputation on the forums and have at least 100 posts on the top 3.
Get at least 15 real followers/likes/etc on each of my social media accounts

    6/29/14
    Earn at least 1 sale

    Monthly Goals
Have at least 300 unique visitors. That's just 10 a day!
Profit. So far I'm at -$1. because I bought a domain and hosting.

I'm managing it by myself. I have spreadsheets and other things I make manually on my google drive.

IDK what I'm typing to trip the moderation system but it's making me crazy.

    So far I've
    - Posted 4 blog posts
    - Fully configured wordpress
    - Setup ads for amazon products
    - Driven 33 unique visitors with 63 visits total.

I haven't done any link building, just social media. It accounts for 28.57% of my traffic. Pinterest has driven 60% of my unique visitors with Facebook following at 40%. Instagram gets me the most engagement in-app, but it doesn't seem to convert to website views. I think I have too little traffic to say for sure.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

After a re-review of my goals, I'm falling short! This is what happens when you don't stop and re-evaluate.

    6/8s goal for 5 posts
I've written 4 posts. I need one more post to reach my goal.

6/15s goal for a complete review of the affiliate products I'm promoting
I haven't purchased the affiliate products! I can't afford them, ahhh.

I know I have catchup to do, but lets see how next Sunday's goal is going.

    6/22s goal for 100 resources & 15 social followers
I have TONS of resources, much more than just 100! I get at least 10 a day still, even after half a month.

Pinterest: 2 Followers. I get the most CTR to my site out of Pinterest, but it only has 2 followers. Both are real people who are highly targeted, and one is pretty well respected within my niche! Cha-ching. I'm trying to put up quality pins so they repin it, I bet that would bring me tons of followers. :) I need 13, or 3.25/day

Twitter: 3 Followers. Altogether, they have 1731 followers. Although a retweet could get me some good exposure, I'd get FIVE TIMES that if I were at my goal. I need to get 12 followers, at least 3 per day.

Facebook: 8 likes. HOW THE HELL DO YOU SEE WHO LIKES YOUR PAGE, FOR REAL. It just tells me people like it but I can't check them out at all :( So annoying!! Anyway, I need 7 more, or 1.75/day.

Google+: 1 Follower. This social platform still really confuses me. I downloaded the app on my phone and since I have I engage in it much, much more. I need to get 14 followers, at least 3.5/day!

Instagram: 1 follower. I get tons of likes on my pics. I've been liking and commenting like mad and now I've got a few conversions to my website, but still only 1 follower. Grrr. What am I doing wrong on this one?! I need 14 more, 3.5/day!

Forums: I haven't been forum marketing at all. Uh-oh! I'll have to fix that and do some serious overtime to catch up to 300 posts.

6/29s goal for at least 1 sale
I hope to have the sale around the time I hit 100 uniques. I'm not worrying about conversion rate yet; that'll be the goal I place after I hit my sales goal, so if I miss that one I'm not going to stress too much.

I'm writing my next post about a micro-niche within the niche I chose. I've done a lot of research and compiled data from over 15 different sources so far. It still has a few hours left of work left. Once I'm done with this one, I think it'll rock my niche's community and get a bunch of engagement! Fingers crossed.

Ever thought about outsourcing your next posts? You might be able to handle more. Seems like you've got a lot on your plate. There's a few gigs on Fiverr for writing that are pretty good.
