My journey to creating a movie streaming site with $0

This is my first journey thread, so I though I would share my idea here.

Here's the idea: Create an online movie streaming website where people can watch movies online for free. I then earn movie from ads and as an affiliate. Simple right? All I have to is by a domain, hosting. and somehow figure out how to get a bunch of movies.

The problem is that I have $0 I can invest in my project. My plan is to use a free sub-domain and try to get a source of income to see if the idea works. I've decided to use WordPress for this project.

Another problem is I have no idea where to get movies for my site. I'd prefer for them to be embedded, but I have no idea what I'm doing. My solution to that is to simply embed old movies from YouTube. So far, I've uploaded 10 old movies embedded from YouTube. I plan to find a better way of getting movies and later start monetizing the site after I get a movie database build up.

One source of revenue I explored was using coinhive to mine Monero in the viewer's browser. Would this work?

If anyone has any tips for starting a movie streaming site, feel free to leave any suggestions you may have. I plan to update this post often and share my experience.

Day 1:

• Set up a free WordPress site
• Uploaded 10 movies from YouTube (embedded)
• Researched the industry

and yes i have read some doors smashing in and ppl getting nicked over streaming websites .

ppl that show video or films have paid for the legal content to be shown on yt.

trust me your getting into doggy waters not knowing what to do.

I’d say forget the idea
1. Many big boys with good money are in the game
2. Old movies on youtube aren’t good enough
3. You have to add 300-400 movies at least to start talking
4. A free wordpress website would be taken down easily since it’s not hosted on an offshore hosting

Sorry to break it out for you, but you’re over simplifying it and making it look way too easy while it isn’t! Do you even have a plan to bring traffic? I didn’t think so

Do you know anything about websites or blogs or niche sites? If you do, then go with it, if you don’t, try learning a thing or two first, rushing won’t get you anywhere

Loool all pessimist people in this thread, this niche never be saturated, dont use free domains is waste of time, save $12 and register a domain or buy 0.48 domain in namecheap, for upload movies just use dooplay wp theme with autoimport and use videospider.in script for dooplay autoembed all movies and focus only in getting traffic.

Thanks for all of the encouragement and discouragement, I've decided to take a different approach and spend a minimal amount of time on the site. I'm still working on it and my short term goal is to have 500 movies by the end of March with several new films. I've currently spent nothing but time on this, so any revenue is a profit.

Use wordpress with dooplay theme, you can scrap movie information like trailer, title, description, photos... from TMDB.

For streaming use videospider.in integration with dooplay or use Openload remote upload from other openload movie links.

I'm also planning to develop a streaming site (anime maybe) and make it a PWA with no ads but with Coinhive mining (only while you're watching video) and se how it goes.

Sorry for bumping the topic, but if I have an offshore VPS, domain and my country does not give a shit about copyrights, can anybody recommend a safe CPA site to use, or any bulletproof way to monetize this ?
