    Hi,

    I have just completed my last university exam (Finally) and now have a solid 4 months off! So what I plan to do is actually have a crack at producing a high amount of ebooks over the summer. I am making this post because what I find is that with out motivation I will dwindle out and give up. Therefore, as motivation I am looking for help from you guys! Basically if don't post here my progress every few days then I would like countless hate/motivational/spam PM's until i post. This ensures that I will continuously post and stick to my plan.
    The Plan
    I plan on writing 2 books per week that are in the non-fiction category. This is what I am planning on doing day in day out (maybe the odd day off) for the next four months in order to achieve this.

    • [*=center]Monday: Keyword/topic research + Intro
      Plan each books topic and what each chapter will deal with plus write each books intro
      [*=center]Tuesday: Write 5000 words for book 1.
      This will involve probably One hour or so researching the topic and then the rest writing the words
      [*=center]Wednesday: Write 5000 words for book 2.
      [*=center]Thursday: Write another 5000 Words for book 1/finish it.
      [*=center]Friday: Write another 5000 words for book 2/finish it
      [*=center]Saturday: Proof read each book for errors and have covers done
      [*=center]Sunday: Keyword Research and description written + Submitted to Kindle

    Marketing Wise I plan on starting a blog for each Pen name/niche I am in and posting the books to various groups on faceboook/fiverr gigs during the Kindle Select Free Period.

    Goals

    The reason I have set the plan out like this is because it stops me from getting bored with each topic which will allow me to be more focused on producing high quality books. I must stress that as well, I am not looking for quantity, but rather trying to produce higher quality books then what is currently offered in the niches.
    Also, I plan on assessing my progress at the 8 week mark and if my books aren't selling due to poor marketing, I may switch to actually just writing books for people instead who are better at IM.
    I want to be making by the end of the period at least 1 sale per book per day. This should equal out to:

    (18 x 2) x 30 = $1080 per month.
    That is with one sale per day per book. Obviously days will occur where there is no sales or more then one sale but I just used that based on past experience.

    I have actually written a 20,000 word ebook recently which is Why i know I can do this and actually write 5000 words per day of quality, researched content ( I completed that book in 4 days). It has so far made around $70 - $80 but I only just (1 hour ago) put it on Kindle Select. For some reason I thought that whilst on kindle select no one could buy it and rather they could only rent it.

    But yea in summary, I plan on starting next week as I have a few commitments until then at uni still but look forward to it. The reason I want to do this is because I am sick of working for other people and would rather wake up when I want, bust out 5 - 6 hours of solid writing then just relax. It would help a lot if you guys could provide any tips for me on things I should change or resources I should use in order to help me be succesfull.
    Cheers

    It's one thing to write these books so quickly, but what strikes me is that how can you provide "quality" books like you say you want to do writing 2 of these per week? i.e. is noone proof-reading it after you write it (line-by-line checking, typos, grammatical errors, style issues), getting someone in that niche to check to make sure that it's a good read, formatting it nicely, etc.

    I know this is blackhatworld.. so I'm probably alone in my thinking (waving my white flag already), but as a Kindle-buyer.. it grates on me that there is so much junk on there, obviously written hastily for a specific market and not providing any value, just some ramblings like a long, boring blog post... waste of my time (when an extra couple of weeks and an extra set of eyes on the book could've made it a 5-star bestseller).

    Anyway, as someone who hasn't finished writing my first kindle yet, I have a lot to learn and I'm just thinking out loud here.. :)
    I'm 'all talk and no action' so don't listen to me.. probably my biggest problem is that I'm a bit of a perfectionist anyway, so good for you for having such big goals per week and taking action, while I sit around researching and not getting anything done.. you'll be far ahead of me by doing what you're doing.

    So let me provide a little bit of value back to you that I hope sparks some ideas to help you succeed in your journey:

    Here are some of my notes so far on where to promote your kindle book(s) once published:

    After Publishing
    Submit to at least 200 Book Review Sites
    Write a Press Release & Submit to all the best Press Release sites
    Update your Email & Forum Signatures to announce your book
    Promote on your Social Media sites (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+, Instagram)
    Email your friends and ask them to Spread the Word
    Find reviewers of similar books and ask if they would review yours
    "Amazon Verified Purchase" reviews are more trustworthy - offer your book cheaper to reviewers
    Look for Author Groups on Facebook
    Look for Kindle Groups on Facebook
    Look for Bookclub Groups on Facebook
    Look for eBook Groups on Facebook
    Add your book to Goodreads
    Create a Video about your Book & Submit to Video Sites
    Create a Small Blog/Website dedicated to your book
    Create a Powerpoint Presentation about your Book and submit to Slide Sharing Sites
    Get Interviewed on Podcasts & Radio Shows
    Add your book to AuthorGraph
    Join BookGrow.com to network with other self-publishers and get their best promotion tips
    Join WorldLiteraryCafe.com to network with a community of authors & reviewers
    Setup a Shop on your own Website to sell direct
    Setup a Facebook Ad campaign to target your ideal market
    Feature your book prominently on every page of your website
    Create a free Teaser book containing some great tips for the book, make it pretty, & get it out there!

    Good luck in your journey and remember to keep us updated :)

    I understand what your saying about quality being an issue which is why i am not going to try and target topics which require an extensive amount of research but rather ones which I can easily learn about in a few days and then write an informative book about it. I also don't want to saturate the market with poor quality books which is why when i wrote my last book I looked at what all the books have to offer in the current niche and what the reviewers are saying is missing. From here I can formulate an idea for the book which is what the readers want, not what I think they want.

    Furthermore, a lot of the time all the information is out there but its spread over multiple sites/books. People would rather just pay say $2.99 for a book that collates all this information rather then spend all the time themselves sourcing it all. For example, I could write a small ebook about each of the things you listed to do after publishing a book. Now it might not be the most extensive or in depth, but the value that the readers will receive will be through the time saved sifting through countless websites to find the information.

    And I will definitely be having someone proof the books, as I am one to make many grammatical errors.

    Good luck.. if you think grammatical errors are your drawbacks then there are many tools to correct them.. and also while reviewing see to that your book is 80% readable.. put a good preface.. because when i buy a book i read the preface from top to bottom..

    ===UPDATE===
    So I wasn't going to actually start Untill next week but i had nothing to do today so I thought I may as well start whilst the motivation is still high.
    Achieved:
    -> Researched Amazon and found a Niche I believe I can penetrate. It has a few books Under 50,000 in the top sellers and actually another few under 10,000 so the niche is promising.
    -> Researched the topic
    -> Wrote 5500 Words. This took a little longer then expected because this book is more of a how to guide and as result i had to add a lot of pictures/annotate them

    ===Sales===
    Woke up this morning to 2 Sales on my only book i have there. Tomorrow it goes live on Kindle Select so I will see how that goes.
    Total Revenue: Roughly $77.00

    Basically I will just be experimenting to find the optimal price but i will also depend on the prices of other books in the niche as well.

    Yea should have been more specific here. That $77 is the total amount i have made this past 3 Weeks with my first ebook.

    ===UPDATE===
    So It has been a few days since my last update. Basically I havent really started yet as I only just finished UNI a few days ago. However last night I did write another 5,000 words for my ebook bringing the total to 10,000 (and nearly finished). I also have outsourced another book to be written. I am experimenting at the moment on the most efficient and effective way to produce high quality ebooks. Another method which I am interested In trying was to voice record an entire book (should take about 1 - 2 hours) and then get someone to transcribe it. Once that is done all you need to do is go through and edit it. So this process can have a book done in about 5 hours. I will try this method for my next book.

    ===Sales===
    The only book i currently have out there at the moment is still doing its kindle select free period so it hasn't got any more sales. It has however gotten about 230 downloads. Is this a good number or not?
    Total Revenue: Roughly $77.00

    ===UPDATE===
    Today I finished my second ebook and am now just waiting for my graphic designer to create a cover. I also went through and reread the book and tried to find all the grammatical/fluency errors (which there were a lot of :/).
    ===Sales===
    Today was the first day of the book being off the kindle select free period. Over the period I got around 230 free downloads. Now that it is back on sale i got 2 people who bpaid for it***. This is the target I was after so I am pretty happy. If this continues daily (and applies to every book I release) I should be getting $120 Revenue per day (30 books x 2.99 average price x 2 sales - 30% amazon royalty)

    Total Revenue: Roughly $81.00

    ***(excuse some bad wording here, it kept saying I was posting something against the rules)

    How are you getting sales? Are you doing any promotion besides kdp select?
