My Journey to $50 with a Quiz Site

Hey everyone,

I'm James, 17 from the UK and this is my journey to hopefully $50 a day and beyond with a quiz site. I wanted to make this journey a month ago however I decided to wait for the AdSense account that I purchased (which took a bit longer than expected), but it's here now and I'm ready to start.

The plan is to begin to gain traffic via social media such as facebook groups and then eventually move to paid traffic such as facebook ads. I'm very new to this all, so this will be a great learning experience. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

The website design has been rushed along with most other things as I wanted to get proof of concept first. I got accepted into a facebook group based on one of my quizzes niches. I posted a post for my quiz (Which the admins had to review but accepted), which I will post the outcome of later today.


Details:

- Using Wordpress
Plugin: WP viral quiz (I 100% plan to move to @se900se 's quiz plugin)


Profit: $0

My huge advice for you is to use Bimber theme it comes with the snax plugin where you can create both Trivia and Personality quizzes. Moreover with the same plugin you can create polls/hot or not polls and much more.

I was already using bimber but sadly I believe the built-in quizzes don't have auto-refreshing but I may be wrong there.
 
Update

I noted in my original post that I'd posted in a single facebook group to test things out. The results are as follows:

Users: 61
Pageviews: 913
Pages/Session: 14
Avg session duration: 3m
Bounce Rate: 27%
Profit: £0.28/$0.34

I fairly happy with the initial results, the page views and pages/sessions seem good (could be wrong). I need to try and understand why the earnings are low, if anyone has suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated as I'm very new to all of this.

Things I've done today

- Bought @se900se 's quiz plugin
- Moved to the boombox theme, like the look of it more
- Started transferring quizzes to the new plugin


Earnings: $0.34/£0.28
 
I wish you good look... I am currently thinking about trying the same method.

Bimber doesn't have auto refreshing? OK... Maybe I should also use the other's quiz plugin

Bimber does have autoresfreshing for each quiz page. Also remember that AdSense is mostly a CPC based Adnetwork. Pageviews will surely get you a good amount of money but as soon as you can try to optimize your CTR.
 
Excellent goal of $ 50 my friend. It will be easy when you dedicate yourself 100% and I know you will. Good luck. Could you tell me what things you had to invest part of your time? Did you study something specific? Where did you get your idea?

Bimber failed comparison performance test, both for user and revenue, sorry.
CTR industry average is 0.5% - 5%, so you cannot make it 25% and if you do - something is wrong.
The goal is to have good rates, traffic, and preferably multiple ad networks so clicks within 5% will bring profit.
OP is just started and I am sure AdSense won't be the only network he is working with once he's started getting some decent traffic.

You can youse the default ones, it does not even matter.

I was using the twenty- something's theme that cames with the WordPress.

You can use any theme you want.

Im literally doing the same thing, expect for the traffic source I'm using reddit, I applied for adsense since 8 days now and haven't heard anything from them yet.
I have one question about the adsense account you have purchased: does it come with an approved domaine and u just link the domaine with your wordpress and then start sending traffic?

How much time it took for you to make some decent money from this method..?
 
Following. Do you have any plan of running multiple facebook account to get more traffic?
