Follow me on my Journey to harvest
    at least 5kg Tomatoes!

This is a long term project - so everyone who is in here for the fast vegetable can move on.

What I have done so far:
I collected some biodegradables in an old trashcan for composting...
Unfortunatley there is a big fat rat in the house that always eats stuff like old bread etc.
Bugs and armys of Ants usually get the rest so its not much yet.

Since most of the soil arround is rubble, clay or has high amount of plastics, glas, trash etc.
I got some from a little more far - dark nutrient rich soil.

I imported some Tomatoes a few month ago and still had 5 seeds left which I started to grow now.

    Todays Update:
I put another eggshell into the composter.
Separated two seedlings into single trays.
    Watering the plants.

You can of course scale this up to your personal needs, but I would suggest to try first if you have a green thumb.
I heard that most people source this out to local markets or supermarkets.
I prefer to do it on my own...

Hint for the compost: Do NOT put the rest of cooked meals or meat in!

I will update every few days only because updating this thread takes more time than the project itself ^^

Awesome, now you need to scale it up to 10kg or even 100kg.

Try monetizing it by making ketchup.

Also, apparently tomatoes that look like ducks are all the rage in Japan:

How did you get approval in planting tomatoes? I've applied to many different agricultural networks but they always turn me down. There must be an effective technique you could share to us poor unfortunate noobs.

I will - but I guess we are going to consume them on our own...
The reason why I grow them is because you can't buy ripe tomatoes here - only green ones which are far away from being consumable. Filipinos think red tomatoes are not for eating anymore (like rotten) - morons!

Nice one - if I get a freaktomato I will post a pic for sure ;)

I know - had 100+ Plants two months ago - but thats another story and will be told another time ;)

Well, that would make the harvesting time a little bit hard for my GF when I get back inside with this imagination :D

    Thanks :)

    Me2 - what else ;)

I'm very interested in a Sponsorship - I'm even thinking about adoption/sponsorship on single plants ^^

    Thanks :)

Go for it - there is almost no limit in vegetables!

    Thanks man :)

    Thanks - appreciate that :)

You know - its blackhat - just don't let the government catch up on you - keep it small until you have enough funds to cover it!

    Will do - Thanks :)

Well less than 5 minutes - but almost everyday ;)

Do you know what is best for those red, juicy crazy tomatoes grow fast and healthy? Just use coffee or tea grounds (Tomatoes and acid-loving plants love coffee grounds for the natural acidity and nutrients they add to the soil), you can pick up in local cafes and restaurants. By using coffee grounds mixed in the soil that repel snails, slugs, ants and rats (those bastards hate coffee). Good luck mate.

I'm doing something similar, but with a unique twist. I don't grow tomatoes per se, but I use a slightly different niche. I still grow them indoors, in pots, and I can almost make a salad out of them... Almost...

    Here's a hint:
