    Hello BHW!

I've been lurking quite a while now. Started a few small projects and made some pennies. Nothing big. I'm currently in school following the study; Communication & Multimedia-design. I will be finished in about 1,5 year. By that time I hopefully will have multiple authority sites which get me at least 100$/day. I thought it was time to make some big steps and get serious about this.

I will be as transparent as possible and I'll try to update every day. If you've got any questions just ask or if you have any feedback or advice it would be well appreciated. Let's start.

    My Method
    1. Do research > Pick a niche > Do some keyword research
    2. Build a website
    3. Do some SEO and maybe some paid traffic
    4. Repeat

    Current Status
I've decided to go with the health niche. My first blog will be targeted towards women. I've made a brand, bought a domain with the exact brand name, made a brandbook and finished the branding, wrote a bussines plan, build the website, did some keyword research and got my writer to write 7 articles (3x1000 words and 4x 500 words).

The brand name, branding and brandbook
I've done this by myself. My study is focussed on Graphic Design so that's an advantage for me. This part didn't cost me anything but if you're thinking about doing this for yourself you could always outsource this. Just go to fiverr and let somebody design your logo. Come up with some fonts that fit the logo and will be used on the website. Make your website with the same colors as the logo or pick some colors that you see fit. As I'm working towards making this website an authority website I wanted the website to look professional. Not some random niche website.

I've also made a thread with a guide for Branding & why you should do it. You can find it here.

Building the website & buying domain+hosting
Building the website took me about 4 days (working at night). I've used WordPress and installed the theme Sahifa. You can find lots of tutorials on how to make a website with WordPress so this shouldn't be that hard for you to do. I've installed MailChimp on my website to build an e-mail list. I think this is important as you'll be able to return visitors who left. I bought a domain name with the exact brand name and got some hosting too. I got both the domain name and hosting from GoDaddy.

I've put one ad on my website. Below each article that I post there will be a banner ad. I got the offer from Clickbank. I looked for an offer with high gravity and with an affiliates website. The affiliates website was important for me so that I could get all the visuals pre-built. This saves time. My articles are about losing weight so I've picked an offer which fit perfectly for insecure women.

In this website I'll focus on insecurities & problems that women have. (You're fat? I got tips to lose weight. You eat too much fast food? I'll provide healthy recipes. Can't motivate to go to the gym? I'll motivate you. You get the idea). I will choose my ads based on that.

    Everything summed up:
    - The website is completely finished and is ready to rock-and-roll. = €8,99 domain + ~€5,99 hosting
    - I'm currently waiting for the 7 articles that will be finished by tomorrow. = €35,-
    - Social Media accounts are made but still need some tweaking (fill in the profile, create profile images etc) = €0,00

    Total spend so far: €50,00
    Total earned so far: €0,00

What's coming in the next update?

I will optimize the articles provided with images and edit them with links to the other articles on the website. Then I'll post them.
I will also complete the social media accounts tomorrow.
Furthermore I'll make a schedule for the upcoming weeks including days to post, time to spend on building backlinks, creating content for social media.
Do some more research on manually building backlinks. This is something new for me although I've been reading tutorials, articles and blogs about this for the past few months.

Advice & Feedback are always welcome.

Definitely following this. I've always wanted to create an authority blog of personal development (meditating, exercise, health, journaling, organization tips, productivity stuff, etc.) but I can't find a good blog that has all of that to look at and tweak. I also wouldn't know how to write the articles as I am just starting on the self development journey myself.

I could outsource the articles and such. I would also promote click bank products through my blog. If you wanna PM me op we could maybe chat and toss around some ideas.

Branding isn't something I see mentioned around here too often, so it's nice to see something different for once.

    Good luck on your journey!

Thank you for following this! Go ahead and do it! In this journey I will be as transparent as possible so that people can join me in the progress. About writing articles yourself; It's not a problem that you're just starting on the journey yourself. Just pretend to be some awesome guru and you'll be one in no time! Unless you want to outsource them. This saves you time but not money. If you're low on budget you could just write articles yourself. Feel free to PM me to toss around ideas!

Tip: If you're writing yourself and your native language isn't english - search valuable articles in your native language and translate those in english. Free content without much work!

Currently I use the adwords planner to export lists of keywords and filter those keywords in Excel using this method (not my website or video either):
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zMYsUQvQg4

I'm planning on buying LongTail Pro in the future.

I think it's pretty important for creating that professional and 'authoritative' look. Beside this will also help building the trust from the readers to you I think. Anyways thanks!

    Thank you man!

I'd probably go with HostGator. It's pretty cheap. Good luck with your website!

Great that you mention branding. I think it's vital even on affiliate sites.

John chow mentioned it recently as well. It builds familiarity and trust. It increases the chances of that visitor coming back, giving you multiple conversion opportunities.

The quality of your content is also vital. Which is why you need A Team writers, not churned out crap.

Thank you very much mate. Best luck to you too in your upcoming yourney!

Thank you very much for your kidness!

True that. Currently testing the waters with some writers. I'm very curious about the quality they'll deliver today. If it's not good I need to look for new writers. Seeing your signature I see that you provide writing services. If the quality that I receive today isn't good I'll probably use these articles as guest posts on other blogs and I will contact you regarding your service.

    ***Update***
Today I've finished all the social media accounts. I will be focussing on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter. I will first try these platforms out and see what works and what doesn't. If a platform brings a good amount of traffic I will lean more towards that platform and if a platform isn't bringing me a lot of traffic I won't waste time on that platform. This way I think is the best way to use social media. There's no use spending time on all social media channels if only three of them are bringing in traffic.

Furthermore I've talked with a teacher of mine who's a professional on the IM field. I told him about my project and showed him my website. He gave me some useful information:
    - The keywords that I targeted weren't good. Too much competition. He told me it's better to focus on keywords with a small amount of monthly searches as this will make it easier to rank for page 1. And if I got 50 posts that rank on the first page that would be better than 50 posts that have a high search volume but are on page 15. The first mistake in my journey is made. I will still post the articles that my writer wrote but from now on I'll focus more on the smaller keywords.
    - He told me that another way to bring in traffic and money should be Guestposting. At first you'll ask bigger blogs to guestpost on their websites for a small amount of money and once my blog gets enough visitors I should allow people to guestpost on my blog. I will do some guestposting once I got my articles to see if this works out good for me.

I still haven't received my articles so I couldn't post anything yet. Though they should arrive today. I've not been doing nothing though because I made a thread that's all about branding and how it should be done according to me. This is just a way for me to contribute to the BHW community as everything in this journey wouldn't be possible without you guys.

    I need some help

    I did some research on a few keywords and this are the the best results I found using AdWords;

    Keyword 1 (3 worded kw):
30 avg monthly searches in USA
0,09 competition according to AdWords (after exporting the keywordlist to an excel file)
    $8,6 CPC

    Keyword 2 ( 5 worded kw):
320 avg monthly searches in USA
    0,11 competition according to AdWords
    $4,02 CPC

    Keyword 3 (4 worded kw):
880 avg monthly searches in USA
    0,10 competition according to AdWords
    $2,97

I would love to focus on low competition keywords but what KW should I focus on regarding these keywords. Or are all of these keywords bad? I'm a little confused. I did my research and it told me that I should focus on <1000 avg monthly searches. With low competition. But I don't trust the competition that is shown to me by AdWords..

I REALLY REALLY need Longtail Pro and I'm getting frustrated. I can find good keywords according to AdWords but I can't find any place to check for the competition for the keyword.

If anyone can help me or give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated..

EDIT: A very friendly BHW member called Smurfmeister helped me out and did a quick check for the competition. Difficulty was way above 80%. I'm very happy he could help me so that I didn't put effort in worthless keywords. Tomorrow I'll be looking at buying keywords from a service from BHW or buying Longtail Pro.

    ****UPDATE
So I'm currently a little bit depressed. Well not depressed just not feeling well. Talked about it with my girlfriend who told me too grow some balls and get back to it. So I've decided to change directions. I'm gonna focus on letting most of the work done by professionals. I'm gonna use a service on BHW which finds kw's for 7$. Furthermore I'm thinking about buying a backlinking package from BHW as well linking to the articles i'll let my writers write for the new KW's.

So basically I'm gonna invest some money in tasks to be done by professionals in order for my blog to sail in the right direction. Luckily my brand could focus on any niche as the brand name contains the word "life". So I'm gonna do some niche research tomorrow to pick a new niche in the sector of "improving life" something less competitive than losing weight. Then I'll outsource KW research, outsource the writing, and buy a link building package. I'm going to try it this way for probably a few weeks to see if it gets me some money. If it does I will scale it (think multiple writers, bigger KW research pack, multiple linkbuilding packs). Once this website gets me at least 10$/day, I'm gonna slowly start building a new site.

    So far:
    €50 spend
    €0 made
1 moment where I lost hope
1 moment where I got slapped on my head by my girlfriend
And 1 moment where I'm not giving up and getting back at it.

    Will update on process tomorrow!

    *UPDATE!
Today I've paid for someone to do the keyword research for me. After that I'll let my writer write articles based on those keywords. I've been busy this weekend because I have to intern in a company for my school. I'll be going to Malta in a company who does Internet Marketing. I will do this to train my skills.

Currently waiting for the KW research to be done. Then I'll let my writers write articles.

Everything is going a little bit slow now but thats my own fault because I made the mistake to do KW research myself which failed. Will update again once I get the articles online.

    So far:
    €65 spend
    €0 made
