Ok. So, I think this section of the website is one of the best. Why? Because it's all about everyone seeing you progress. There is a ton of moral support here. And all of you guys who have come before me, you have inspired me to start this thread.

I'm not going to be verbose, I'm going to get right into it. I have general idea of SEO, but have never ranked anything on my own. I was the guy who just bought the services & then his clients sites got smacked...and that's that. So, I have a plan to change my business model from providing SEO to using SEO to rank lead gen sites in local niches. I know very little about any of this, so this is why I have created this thread so that you guys can follow me as I learn & take action.

    Project 1:

I have a client who I am building a lead gen site for free, since their website got smacked by G. My plan is to get this ranked 1st, while documenting everything for myself so I can rinse, wash & repeat. I will break this project down into steps.

The site is HTML5/CSS3 (which I'm ok with HTML...but not even an intermediate). So far I have:

    • Done KW research
    • Purchased a Domain name
    • Ordered & received Homepage content
    • Started building out the Homepage & other pages
    • Ordered 3 more pages of content

With you guys' help, I will update this thread daily to keep you posted on my progress.

1 day Goal - Have homepage completely built out.
1 week Goal - Have Homepage + 6 other pages built out with (as perfect of On-Page SEO as I can get).
2 week goal - Take site live with total of 10 pages (as perfect of On-Page SEO as I can get).

I'm kind of nervous now. LOL I've let everyone know what I'm up to, so I will actually have to... *gulp* Take action!

Thanks for the support in advanced guys!

Ok, I didn't come yesterday to report because I'm already behind schedule. But, I will fess up. This is not done. Part of it because I'm a little overwhelmed by all of this. But the homepage is nearly complete. I had a little snafoo of setting up a local LAMP server & converting the site to php, so I can use includes for the header, footer, siderbar (which makes everything VERY easy as opposed to raw HTML).

What's left on Goal 1? I have to:

    1. Do the slider (I'm going for a static slider for now, because it is lead gen & I don't want it to rotate 3 slides).
    2. Get a logo (I just need to pick someone on 5err & get it over with...I've been hemming & hawing over who to choose).
    3. Complete the footer (I need to decide what I want in the footer)
    4. Clean up the formatting for my content (I need to get it spaced properly...at least better than it looks now).

I will update when this is all completed.

Hey, thanks for the luck wishes. What do you mean by screen shots of my work? If you mean of the site itself, sorry, but it would disclose my niche & location. That is something I don't want to do...especially with all of you pro's around here...I'm a newbie, but not that new. ;)

If you're wanting a look at the quality of the site, it's a responsive themeforest theme, so it looks good. I hope this helps.

I havn't heard anything about lead gen sites in a while. I think it's pretty tough since most of the first results are local listing straight from Google Maps.

    Good luck!
