    Hi everyone,

I thought about starting a journey mainly to motivate myself. Knowing that other people might be following what I am doing will keep me at it. I tend to lose focus very fast and starting new projects on impulse, thus many projects that could be successful otherwise, would remain idle.

Little bit of history: I have been an affiliate since 2008, made sales with Clickbank mainly ($5k+) and markethealth ($1k) along with a few other networks but never cash in the money. My main marketing method was article marketing (bum marketing like it used to be called back then). I gave up because I took a job that didn't leave me enough time to work on my websites. I ended up losing all of them over time (I had 16 websites). Also I didn't stay with affiliate marketing since it was not bringing in enough and had to give it up.

So I am trying to start again. From what I noticed, things have changed a lot. Affiliate websites don't seem to rank that well (I assume it's because of the penguin updates)

What I plan on doing is this:

    Health Website
    -The blog + the store
-The blog - part that will be indexed on Google and rank over time (probably will only have adsense on) - Around 5 articles per day, 400+ words each (actually no article)
-The store - health products from shareasale, basically this website will be infested with affiliate links, thus not letting it getting indexed (actually filled with 140 health related products)

    News Website (actually 6 articles)
    - Working on this with google trends
    - 10+ daily news
    - Will be monetising with adsense and a few other affiliate products here and there but that will be after I got it into google news

So far what I have in terms of online revenue is 0

Actual balance showing on networks I'll be using is as follows:
    Shareasale: $6.16
    Adsense: $€7.75
    Clickbank: $0

I will still be using content marketing but I will not be submitting articles to Ezine or any other article websites.
Marketing method will be SEO and social media.

I'll be updating once or twice a week to see where I am standing. Wish me luck. :)

EDIT: I forgot to add, my goal is to earn a steady $1000 monthly to start.

Thanks Neonskull I won't :) In fact I don't want to give up. I have so many ideas that I end up being entangled between many projects and it becomes impossible to handle... the reason why I started this journey thread. To keep me focused.

    UPDATE:
News website - 4 pages indexed
Health Website - 3 pages indexed

Been working mainly on setting up stuff (plugins / webmaster tools etc), only one article added today.

Yes and no, the reviews won't be on the store itself. The store containing shareasale products will have unique product descriptions only. Once in a while there will be product reviews on the blog to keep it legit.

Thanks, I'll be posting some screenshots soon so others can get a better idea of what I'm doing.

You can get that via Google Webmaster tools when you have submitted your sitemap. Or you can search "site:your url here" without the quotes and you'll see the pages indexed. Here're the indexed stat for the health website: (I am using the 'Google XML Sitemaps' plugin with wordpress to generate sitemaps)

    Thank you very much :)

I haven't been working much this w-end, apart from 2 news articles.

All news articles are submitted manually to:
-Facebook (profile with 1800+friends and newly created page)
    -Twitter (100+ followers)
    -Google+ profile
    -Pinterest
    -Linkedin
    -Digg

Traffic stats so far (No ads on the website yet)

Thanks alot very useful! I did the search in google, and nothing is showing. I installed the webmaster tools and clicked on search appearance and the first node (structured data) says there isn't any like in this pic...

    err.png
I'm guessing this is a bad thing =(

Can you tell me what steps you'd take to start getting the site listed in google, so far it's just been built in wordpress and it was using a theme which was paid for so i assumed it would have SEO built in.. but i guess things aren't looking good!

    Appreciate your advice

    How old is your website?
And once you submit your sitemap, you got to wait some time for Google to crawl your pages (generally within 24hrs)

If there's no pages of your website indexed yet you can build some links to it or go ahead and submit it here:
"www(dot)google(dot)com/webmasters/tools/submit-url" replace the dot, can't post url yet

thanks a lot mate, is google xml sitemaps, the plugin you mentioned before, the tool that will submit the site to google. I don't think it's ever been submitted, maybe this is what the problem is. Site is about 1-2 months old.

Just a quick update, still building up content at the moment. I've been a bit slow, still getting the hang of it.

    News website: 12 articles
    211 unique visitors

    Health website: 5 articles
    107 unique visitors so far

No monetisation yet, taking baby steps.. A bit too slow for me but I'll get there.
