In this post I'm going to be talking about how my journey with YouTube started with me botting my channel all the way up to gaining hundreds of subscribers each day, 70k+ views each day organically, and one of the most known content creators in the game I upload. Note that I will not be exposing my identity nor will I be exposing the game I upload on since I am still findable. I will also be proving some screenshots at the end of the post.
Over the years I've always heard botting on YouTube is bad and every time I hear this I think "That's how I grew on YouTube and I don't think I would have received the opportunities I did if I didn't bot my channel".
Now that doesn't mean I support botting, I think botting is helpful for getting ranked higher and it may get you opportunities, but I definitely don't support big content creators botting just to look more popular.
I started my YouTube journey on September 24, 2017. The first day I downloaded a bunch of sub4sub mobile apps and started sub4subbing. During this I streamed Roblox every day for hours on end and only getting 4-30 views per stream. I streamed games mostly Roblox for around 10 months, during these times I would rarely upload videos and I remember once I uploaded a Roblox Hacking tutorial and the video reached 100+ views and I was so excited! During these 10 months I wasn't growing much and I was doing sub4sub here and there. I quit streaming Roblox when I had around ~260 subscribers which around 150 of them were bots (a random guess).
I took a small break from YouTube, this was during summer break and I was out of school. My goal has always been to get to 1k subscribers and I really wanted to brag to my friends when I got to school so I spent a few weeks/month on a website called Like4Like to sub4sub my way up to 1000 subscribers. It was a long journey but I did it! While I'm on the topic, a YouTuber named H Matter was one of these people who I did sub4sub with and just a few years ago I noticed how big his channel grew and he was still a subscriber of mine! I am unaware if he is still a subscriber of mine as he no longer shows up on the list of people subscribed to me but this just proves that sub4sub has worked out for one big YouTuber.
Anyways back to the story, when I got to school I bragged to all of my friends of my huge milestone of 1000 subscribers! During this time I came back to YouTube uploading random videos such as COD, Fortnite, Minecraft, and some random videos. During these times my videos averaged around 20-50 views, it was rare for one to get higher views although I did manage to get 2 videos over 1.5k! For the next month or two I was uploading random videos until one of my videos received a comment by a huge YouTuber named Sam Dubs (834k subs), I was so excited and I bragged so much to my friends and to this day, he is still the most popular content creator who has commented on one of my videos.
Not to long later my videos started to average 50+ views a video and I noticed hacking videos performed really well on my channel so I started uploading more hacking videos with sub2unlock links which helped grow my channel ALOT. These hacking videos were gaining 500-3000 views and I even had a few reach 30k+ views! About a month or two later I started uploading on the game my channel is now dedicated to. At this time my channel had around 2.1k subscribers. Due to my subscriber count I was able to partner with a server that allowed me to promote my content to a bunch of new people which lead my videos to start reaching 100+ views a video. If I never botted my channel, I would have never been able to partner with this server and if I never partnered with them, I have no idea where my channel would be today.
I started to have videos perform pretty well gaining 500+ views sometimes over 1000 although they averaged 100-300 views. I continued uploading on this game until one time I decided I was going to up the quality of my videos. I started creating better thumbnails, names, tags, descriptions, etc. My videos started to reach 200-300 views on almost every video. Around this time I decided to purchase a software called UGT for $15 a month. I owned this software for around a month and a half. I used it to bot views and likes. I botted 300-500 views per video in which soon after I started doing this, my videos started to reach 1k+ views.
A lot of these videos were even reaching 2-3k views which was just crazy. I stopped using UGT and I surprised to notice that my views were barely down from when I was botting them with UGT. Not to long later my videos were now guaranteeing 2k views a video sometimes up to 6k views! I even had a few videos do really well with 10-20k views.
HERE IS WHERE IT GETS GOOD!
Someone I knew uploaded a video that gained millions of views so I decided to create a similar video. Around this time I was at 5-6k subscribers. I uploaded the video on August 16th, At first it performed so badly, worse than most of my videos. 30 days in and it has 585 views. 12 days later the video reached 1k views. I noticed the views were getting higher each day but it wasn't until October 9th (55 days in) when the video reached 2k views. Just 10 days prior it was at 1.5k views and I remember telling my friend "Imagine if this video goes viral". I never expected what was going to happen next. 5 days later the video was up to 4386 views... Another 5 days pass and the video is at 7659 views... 5 days later the video is at 10.5k views. I was in complete SHOCK. But I never would have guessed what would happen next. 10 days later, it was at 20k views. Another 10 days later it was at 32k views. 10 days later it was at 55k views. 10 days later it was at 88k views..
AND THEN.....
10 days later it was at 172k views. It went from 88k views to 172k views in 10 days, that's 8.4k views A DAY!!! But it didn't stop there. 10 days later, 322k views. Just 97 days later the video reached 1 MILLION VIEWS!
From there some days I would go gaining 50k views on the video. While this video was popping off, I decided to make a "Part 2" video and it also performed VERY WELL. At the peak of it, I was gaining 70k views A DAY with ~300 subscribers each day (both videos combined). Currently the part 1 video has 6,114,734 views and part 2 has 2,242,564 views. While the videos have died down, they are still gaining around 4k views a day.
I never thought in a million years this would happen to me and if I never botted my channel in the beginning, I don't think this would have EVER happened!
And the way I knew this was viral was when I found out my channel was known in my small city with a population of ~10k people. Also during these times, I also had multiple other videos go semi viral with 100k-500k views but I won't talk about that. I'm sure at least one person reading this has seen at least one of the viral videos. My channel now sits at 43,033 subscribers, 10 million channel views, and 261.8k watch hours (29.89 years).
I took a 6 month break from YouTube but I plan to come back next month. My videos now average 10-20k views each video with a good amount of videos surpassing 30k views.
In Summary due to my botting at the beginning of my channel, I was able to use my subscribers to get partnerships which eventually involved into growing a decently sized fan base which allowed two of my videos to go viral and I am now almost always in YouTube's search (when searching for the game). I also think having botted subscribers + botted views (in the beginning when I used UGT) helped rank my videos higher in search and anyone would rather watch a video with more views rather than one with little views. I honestly think if I never botted my channel, none of this would have happened and I would have quit years ago.
I also started doing small sponsorships and starting making $30 on most of my videos on top of ad revenue. I even had a $600 sponsorship once!
I hope my story helped at least one person and I am happy to answer any questions.
