    Hello,

I run a fitness account on Instagram under the name of GymSpotter. I made this account last year because I wanted to make some money, and had previously spoken to a very successful account owner who had made over $5M in two years. I haven't yet made money as I haven't really had the time to invest into the account, I post daily and occasionally respond to comments. I then started working on a fitness app, and started using the account more. I haven't spent a huge amount on shoutouts in the past, probably $100 - $300 over a year.

Anyway, I wanted to invest a little more. Not necessarily just to get followers, and make money from the account - but to get more sign ups on my upcoming fitness app. I've got 15.6K followers on the account, and just over a thousand sign ups on the site.

I spoke to a guy from New Zealand who owns a few big Instagram accounts ranging from 80K - 703K, and has a total of 2.5M followers across all accounts. I have sealed a deal with him to get an 8 hour shoutout on all accounts for $150. If I get a good outcome from that, he will give me another 8 hours on all accounts for $100. I have compared so many accounts but the price this guy has provided is unrealistically cheap, which makes me think that half (if not more) have been bought and are fake.

Not entirely sure what to do, I have looked at a few of the accounts and the account which has 703K followers only receives about 3-5K likes on each photo. What are your thoughts on this? I looked at another fitness account with less than 450K and they get over 10K likes. Opinions?

    Thanks

Ask him to promote your account for an hour as a test. Depending on the results you purchase a shout out at the agreed price OR move on.

It sounds a little too good to be true.
There is still engagement on the posts though which i guess is good.. Id see if he could do a post for free to test then go forward with a deal working from that.

    :)

Clearly lots of his followers are fake then! I have a fitness Instagram page to and I always look for user activity on the post instead of the follow count. For example someone with 100k followers could have way higher user activity than an account with 1 mill followers, simply because the one with 1 mil followers could very well have tons of fakes.

Growing with shoutouts in the fitness niche is very difficult and expensive. It can be done though. Regarding that 700k page, I think you get what you pay for. Everyone with an active account knows the value of what they have. I know a guy with pages that average 25-30k likes and he charges like $400\hr and hes booked up for a week at a time. So I would say if it seems too good to be true it most likely is. Hope this helps, and good luck in your ventures

3-5K likes per photo for a 703K followers account sounds like BS to me also the price seems too good IMO so I would probably stay away. Make sure you do your due diligence before spending any money

Thanks for all of your responses. I am going to speak to him about the hour test run which I don't think he'll be too happy about. I'll update you all

Just be up front with him. You're worried about how many likes his previous pictures are getting, with 700K followers he should be getting a lot more.
If he is a reasonable person then I don't see there being a problem but on the other hand, if he says no then you know he has something to hide and you shouldn't deal with him/her.

When I asked him for the short test run and mentioned about the like/comment count, the response I got was 'better go get a shoutout from one of those pages then'... Don't think I'll be doing a shoutout with him any time soon.
