Let me first start by saying I have been lurking on this forum for years and tried many methods to make easy money. I have failed at pretty much every one except Amazon Kindle, which I put in around 20 hours of writing and it's been passive making over 100 a month for several years. That's the only success I've had out of everything I've tried.

Anyway I usually don't try anything with social media because I'm just bad at it, but I can think of endless possibilities using Instagram. I know they've been rolling out the ads and stuff for a while so if my first plan to make money via shoutouts fails due to ads, I can use the following for other means like taking them to a CPA, or even better. At the very least I think I could have several fallbacks and if all else fails I will just keep growing it until I find something that does work.

So I am starting off noob style. I hated Instagram before, never used the thing, but I started using it the last few days with one purpose in mind, to grow it and make money eventually.

My goal is simply $20 a day. It may not seem like a lot but considering I have failed at everything else I will consider it a success if I can reach that. I'm hoping to also be able to start that after 50k followers, or in 5 months. I am thinking around 200 followers a day once things get ramped up. In the first 2 weeks I am going to keep it low at 100 a day and increase from there. I know at this rate I am looking at 20-20k in 5 months but I also know that the number of people following will increase as the account grows.

I am going to work on 1 account to start, and add maybe 1 or 2 as things progress. I am also trying in the food area of things. I'm sure there are better niches but I also feel like I want to post content that I actually care about so that it isn't some automated mess.

    So here goes.

My account is 3 days old and I have been following manually for the last 2 days. Not really much just loading up my phone and following a few followers of several other people in my niche. That yielded me around 30 follows back. Today I started to automate it a bit and am now up to 75. I will stop at 100 and take things slow over the next few days. I think first week I will maybe make 50 a day.

I am going to post once a day and see how things progress. I am also hashtagging in my posts to gain more exposure. I gained around 10 likes on one photo from 75 people and another 10. I really do want to try to get some decent engagement as things progress. I think at 10k if I get close to 300 likes I will be happy. I see people selling shoutouts all the time on 100k accounts and their engagement is only 2-3k.

So I will start this day off as day 1, since it's day 1 of my journey. I also can't stand seeing the dead journeys on here. People going 3-4 months, getting to 20-30k from nothing and then never posting again. I do plan to follow this through long term because there is absolutely no reason why having 100k+ of people to connect with won't turn into some form of money. If I make at least $20 a day from that 100k then success!!!

    Day 1

    Follows: 75

Any tips on what settings to run in follow liker? So as not to get hit with a ban hammer.

Also is it safe to use the same IP to run up to 2-3 accounts before using proxies? Just some questions if I want to introduce more accounts in future.

That's why I am have follow liker. I am just talking about posting content manually rather than automating. I believe in quality over quantity and I do want to work on engagement via quality posts. I don't care too much about having many vps because I don't plan to upscale this thing until it shows promise, and a return. I just want to test the waters. I have a big whopping $0 investment money into this after follow liker so this either brings me some money or it doesn't, and if it doesn't, I have a huge stream of potential traffic to tap into. I don't expect to bank hard with Instagram but I do hope to be able to afford to pay my internet and electricity bill with it every month.

I'm in this for the long haul. I am determined to make this work with mainly 1 account.

2-3 accounts on 1 ip is fine for now, wouldn't push it though.

    Best of luck :)

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I'm thinking of opening another acc in a completely different niche to make sure I have multiple options.

Good luck on your journey, OP. I don't have any experience on Instagram aside from growing my company's profile, so I won't be able to provide much info.

But good luck, and I truly hope you make it to even $40 a day!

Thank you! This is new waters for me too. I could try to expand my kindle books but I don't have time to write books, nor the money to outsource so that passive income is just going to have to keep coming it at $3 a day. If I can automate this and put in around 15-30 minutes a day to invest into it, and if it pays me $10 a day even after almost half a year it will be will be like $20 an hour for time invested. For me that is totally worth it considering right now I am working minimum wage here at $7.25 an hour.

Hey again. Little update this morning.

I am going to be posting an update progress to the stats every night when I am done following/followed for the day. I am also thinking about other ways to monetize it as it progresses.

Since I am doing the food niche I think it could be a good idea to start a blog in this niche too and hit them with ads and other goodies. I just checked out some income reports for a couple of medium sized blogs and was blown away since I initially thought their income would be low. After looking at the comments and dissecting various blogs, on the surface it looks like interaction is okay, but underneath they are making more than what I expected.

I am not sure of the best time to get started, maybe around the 10k range I will start my blog. Until then I will build it over the next month. This may mean I have to get my wife on board, with blogging, etc. I think at this point I am just sick and tired of trying to make a quick buck and failing at it, so I need to start thinking on more longer term projects. I think $20 a day is looking more do-able by June. I also think I will open another IG account today in another niche that I can use in future too.

I am following around 250 people a day on my new acc. Not sure if I am pushing it or could push it even more. Not banned yet. I don't want to speed grow it only to get banned. People are starting to follow me that I am not following, which is good.

Edit: It looks like food blogging will be very hard to get into and require a huge amount of time. Not sure if it's a good idea until I know I can start driving traffic there. I may do a couple of tests before I go fully into it, put up a dummy site and drive some traffic there and see the stats. If the traffic from IG is decent I will when start to work on the blog fully. This is all just in predevelopment right now, but if IG traffic is weak then there is no way I'm going to invest my time into developing an authority blog in a saturated niche, because we all know in order to that I have to take it to a level other bloggers haven't.

I'd also look into Pintrest if you're in food/recipies. I'm finding Pintest easier to get followers especially with food.

Thanks, I am looking into Pinterest too. I'm not really sure about twitter to be honest, I don't really see the point in it because it's hard to post food/recipes stuff via a tweet, but I guess it could be a traffic source.

I am going to make sure my blog will be very mobile optimized, because most traffic will be coming from phones. I'm also aware there is a personal aspect to these blogs and people don't want someone hiding behind it, so I think if I do go the blog route it will be crucial to get my partner on board. In fact I think she would do better as the forefront of the blog and I will work on the backend and monetization.

I really think IG will be a great test to see if making money via it is possible, and if so, I can expand to other areas. When I reach 10k I am pretty sure I can see the potential, like a glimmering light of what it could be. One thing I have learned on here over the years is that there is no point in trying to monetize anything with having a blog/website if you cannot drive traffic to it.

I am really late to the game with a food blog plan but hey, if I can make this work in a saturated as hell niche, I am pretty sure I can make it work in less saturated ones as well. I think I have an upper hand in IM than the average food blogger mom. At least throughout the years of failing and trying to monetize too fast various projects I learned one thing. If you don't have a plan from the beginning it will take a long time.

I got like 50 ideas of how to monetize this but the biggest lessons learned from the past... TRAFFIC before MONEY.. I tried to implement the opposite thinking that if I have it set up perfect from the get go I can make money from the get go. Didn't work. So when I say I gotta plan everything I mean I got to have a plan of attack when the moment is right, ready to go. So I made mistakes of launching my plan of attack first and it backfired. I just have to make my strategies, and do it at the right moment, and boom, like a video game. Target eliminated :D

So I will grow my IG account, keep growing, test traffic potential and then we will start trying out ideas to make money. If it doesn't work, oh well, IM isn't for me :)

That's great, over 200 a day. I think if you keep going and increase you will be at 100k in no time, and from there it will grow itself. I think it's important to post high quality content and not random, bad images. I am still in the low stages but my engagement is 36%. I know that's going to change drastically as the numbers grow, but people seem to be liking my stuff a lot and following me when I am not even following them.

Ok the numbers are in. I'm a little disappointed with the results. I am getting around 20% follow back.

I also am not hitting my daily limit of 250-300 that I just set, so I think I need to adjust some things. Maybe I'm not following enough people.

    Day 2: 112 (+37)

Yeah that's pretty abysmal. I think I need to be a tad more aggressive tomorrow. The engagement seems ok for such a low number, just... it isn't growing as fast as I like. At that rate I am looking at less than 500 by week 1. Tomorrow will be a new day and I shall report in at the same time!

I've changed my times a bit. I had them set to 50-70 on following people so I decrease it a bit, and set max follow per day to 400-500. I will gradually increase it and see what happens over next few days.

Things are better today. Getting decent engagement for such low numbers

I tweaked settings a bit and am going a tad more aggressive than yesterday. Seems to be working.

    Day 3:204 (+92)

I am thinking that by day 7 it should be a tad over 1000 if I am estimating this right. I know there is a chain effect where the more followers I get the more will end up following me and the numbers will increase due to people finding me, so I am factoring in a % based growth. Pretty sure tomorrow will see over 130 new followers. I created another account today in the animal field of things, made a profile pic and uploaded 1 picture. I'm going to let it sit for a few days before introducing it into Follow Liker.

I feel like I'm spamming with posts/updates a bit so I will start to do it every 2 days. I feel like my calculations were pretty accurate. Almost 130 like I predicted. We should see a growth of +150 tomorrow.

    Day 4: 325 (+121)

Hi there, right now I have an account with about 4.3k followers. To give you a gauge I make about $1-$5 a day on average without doing anything. You should use bots if you aren't using them
