i think locking bhw by a content lock instead of giving a 403 error will be more good. sending all traffic to a locked simple page will decrease server load.

because currently bhw is giving a 403 to many countries ( ddos attack may be for those countries )

currently bhw is down for those countries and is losing community + search engine traffic.

with that plugin bhw will show a sign up page ( or a captcha for not logged in users)

because currently ddos is consuming a lot of server resources , but with that lock for those countries at-least bhw community will be happy.

i may be able to explain more but currently i am t0o much busy. any one can see a example on hackforums.net (they only use it for threads not for home page )

    just another option https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hola-better-internet/gkojfkhlekighikafcpjkiklfbnlmeio
add this thing in newsletter (it works good , great speed ) (i am not advertising this thing , i posted it because it worked)

*it's just my suggestion , if you not like it then you have full rights to not post in thread*

I've tried to access from internet cafes and mobile IP's in my country, all blocked.

I've gotten replies from support.bhw but no luck unblocking my Ip's. Using a USA private proxy now.

yep showing a locked page instead of a 403 will help more. and this might be able to help people to use members bhw.

    @cmax99 thanks for a +1 .

Care to provide some refutal or why it's a bad idea? I thought it's not ideal, but it sure beats seeing a 403....

The point is a 403 uses no resources, as it is just a blank page with a 403 header being loaded. It was done to help the server withstand the load of tens of thousands of infected bot machines wasting machine resources.

If you turn on a content locker, you're (again) allowing bots to load resource-intensive pages. If you're going to allow that, might as well just allow the real pages ... because either way, its draining BHW server resources and causing the server to crash.

Showing a content locker to bots won't convert. The countries that have been excluded won't convert for a content locker either. Just an all-around bad idea.

BHW is a business for the owner and should be treated as such. Running content lockers on the site or having any forced monetization for site access takes all the credibility out of the site and its administrators.

This gotta be the most ridiculous suggestion ever.

I don't think you have any idea of what DDoS is and how it works.

In first place you shouldn't allow the attacker to reach your server which in turn drains all your resource[be it enabled content locker or anything]. So the best way is to fight DDoS is to filter the attackers thru a different network like cloudflare or hardware filters, investigate and block any malicious IPs involved in the attack.

Also It's not that attackers use browser to visit bhw to block them with content locker.

sorry , but i not want bhw to show a content locker.

it just redirect all non-logged in user to a login page.

but , i not think my idea will work much.

thanks php and qrazy. closing this now.
