Hey guys I'm a bit new here so I wont be able to use words like S E L L, or T H A N K S, and there may be a few others I'll find as I write this. (I'll note them as needed)

Note: Sorry for the length, there's quite a bit of detail.

Alright before I start my story I need to give you a bit of info about myself:
I'm 16, and I've always looked for ways to make money. (Think of the old Ed, Edd, and Eddy cartoon with their attempts to make money) Also none of my ideas have ever been illegal or unethical. Nor have I ever had any intentions to do things of that type in hopes of a profit. (Don't get me wrong though I have done some very questionable things, however none of which are related to money, business, or profits)

I will not be disclosing what exactly I $old to make what I make, for the simple fact that I still make a profit off of said item. I will instead replace it with the word: Bow and Arrow

    On to the story.

To start we'll have to go back to around February or March of 2014. I had been slightly depressed during those months because I hadn't come up with a new idea to make money since late 2013. As the month crawled by I started to get more and more desperate as what money I was making on YouTube was starting to dry up due to stiff competition. (This is an entirely different story in itself) As the desperation for a new idea worsened I decided to go through some of my old stuff to try and rekindle past ideas.

As I searched for ideas I found an old website I had set up that allowed people to "Adopt a Tree". At the time I thought the main reason the site didn't work well in the past was simply because I never really advertised it. So I decided that I would restart the site with a fresh set of ads, however I wasn't entirely sure what would be the best way to get the site out there. At first I played with the idea of making a YouTube video on adopting trees and how doing so helped save our environment. However the amount of money it would require to advertise said video through Google Adsense didn't seem to be worth the expected amount of views it would get me. So I shelved the idea for the time being and continued on with life, until about a week later when I drove past a digital billboard, and I jokingly thought "Hey, what better way to advertise than a billboard, thousands drive by it every day?".

So I decided to do some light-hearted research on the price of billboard advertisements. What I found surprised me. Now regular static billboards have a going rate of anywhere from 2,000$ a month to 10,000$ a month, for one advertisement. Not to mention the cost to create the actual vinyl poster board that is plastered onto the billboard. (This is pretty much the advertisement "paper" you see on a regular billboard)

Since 2,000$ was a bit out of my budget I looked at digital billboards because you can schedule your advertisement for almost any set length of time, even just a day. I went ahead and got several quotes for placing my advertisement, and ended up with an average quote of about 100$-200$ for a single day of ad space, which for my budget was very reasonable. (Digital billboards can customize co$ts because for one they are digital, and secondly they can have multiple advertisements on a single digital billboard - this becomes important later)

So I thought I had a plan, I would run an advertisement on a digital billboard for a single day and see how it effected my Adopt a Tree website.
Before I even considered calling and placing my ad however, I decided to dig further and get a price check on how much an entire digital billboard would cost.

What I found surprised me even more than earlier. After some heavy research I got an estimate for about 100,000$ to 150,000$ for the whole digital billboard, this includes everything from installation, permits, even the cost of each digital LED socket. (This however does not include land costs, I later came up with a way to get land for a billboard at a VERY low rate, in some cases for nothing, however I will not be revealing said method as I will be using it in the near future) - I don't want to get too detailed but, with a digital billboard and the costs to advertise in my local area I could have a digital billboard pay itself off within 1 to 2 years. After that almost everything is profit (except for electricity and permits of course, these however are minuscule compared to the potential profits) - Because of laws regarding minors signing contracts I decided I would have to wait until I was 18 to actually do any of this.

Now that I had this plan I was missing only one thing, funding.

At the time I came up with the idea I had about 10,000$ just enough to scratch the surface of what I needed. So I was pretty much back to square one, coming up with ideas to make money. This time quite a bit of money. (Because I was 16 when I came up with this I would have about 2 years to gather the funds required)

That's also the time I noticed I needed a laptop, for school.

So my first reaction, because I love to save money just as much as I do to make it, was to go on eBay and look for a good deal. After about 4 days of searching, and 3 lost auctions, I found an IBM laptop for 150$. Now don't let the price tag fool you, this was a very good laptop, 4gb Ram, 2.53GHz intel i5 dual core, and an okay 360GB HDD. There was one problem however, whenever it was turned on it would immediately shut down and say "fan error". So me being up for more research I looked up guides on how to fix said error, and ended up watching a very worrying video of an Indian guy using a car grade air compressor to forcefully shoot air into the laptop and un-jam the fan. After seeing that I felt pretty confident that if he could do it I could fix the error, so I went ahead and bought it.

Fast forward a week and I was able to get the laptop fixed, by literally just blowing into the fan with my own breath. With it being that easy to fix I decided to check how much the laptop I bought was worth if it was fully working, turns out they go for about 270$. So by simply blowing into a fan I made 120$, I $old the laptop on eBay that night and shipped it out the next day. Easiest 120$ I had ever made. I had finally found what I was going to do to make the money I needed to fund a digital billboard, or so I thought.

I ended up going through about 20 laptops in a month and made a cool 2,000$. But even with this plan I would be short if I used the rest of the time I had until I was 18 repairing laptops.

Now if you have made it this far I sincerely congratulate you, we're finally to the part where I start $elling what makes me the money I make today. REMINDER: I cannot tell you exactly what I $ell as I have enough competition as it is. I will instead replace what I $ell with the word Bow and Arrow

With laptops before I sold them I had to do something to them, something that would make them work, no it was not blowing into fans. However it was very necessary for them to even function at the most basic of levels.

The thing I did however requires something, something I like to call the Bow and Arrow.

The Bow and Arrow is the god of computing tools. With it almost any computer can be fixed, as long as the problem is software related. (which in my case it almost always is)

The best part is simply the fact that I had the ability to "get" as many Bow and Arrows as I needed. (in reality you only need one, and they're reusable) So with the extra Bow and Arrows I had lying around I was stumped as to what to do with them. At first I threw them away, but to me I hate wasting things, so I decided to see if I could find them for $ale on eBay. Not only did I find them for $ale, I found them for 10$ a piece, and I had an endless supply. (Well of course they do cost a small amount of money to "get", however the cost to "get" them is very tiny compared to what they were worth on eBay)

So now I truly had what I was going to do to make the money over what time I had left before I turned 18.

I will add more detail as to how many I $old a day, some of the MANY problems I've had $elling them. Also a few other things, however for now I will be going to sleep as I started writing this at 3:00 AM and it is now 5:00AM (I couldn't sleep earlier and this seemed better than watching the sun rise)

Lastly, if there is some interest in my post I'll probably add more within the next day, and if you want more stories on some of my other business endeavors when I was 10-14 let me know. (Including ones you could do right now) If you have any questions feel free to post them below and I will probably get back to you shortly.

The real last thing, I am interested in a business partner. I need someone who is willing to work with me in selling on eBay. As I am not 18 it is against their policies for me to sell on there, of course I do, but I want to do things right. So if you are above the age of 18 and interested in working with me to grow an eBay empire let me know. Your duties would include: Calling eBay support, Calling PayPal support, using your REAL info to make both a PayPal and eBay account. Also I would need you to make a US Bank account that allows me access for withdraws and deposits. Basically I would use your name to make money, and of course you would get a share for allowing me to use your name. Last thing, you would have to forfeit your personal use of the accounts you create for me. If you do any activity that gets the accounts that were in your name suspended I would no longer be able to work with you. I would prefer someone who lives in the Northern Nevada region or the Northern California region, we may need to meet once or twice in person. We can negotiate payment privately.

    Hey there,

I just finished reading your rather lengthy post, and I must say that I envy your success. Having a $10,000 budget almost makes my eyes water, and making $2,000 selling laptops... incredible! :) I am actually interested to hear about your 10-14 endeavours!

    Good luck!
