First off-- I'm new to all this.
    Second, I'm ambitious and driven.

I'm going to try and take my 2 week old site to #1 with a competitive keyword. I will do this with the purchase of 200 unique hand written articles, 50 .gov backlinks, 1,000 .edu backlinks, 500 posts on forums, and 50,000 posts on high PR blogs/sites.

    Total cost: $300.
Time expected to completed: 3 months
(Very slow process to not get sandboxed)

    The #1 site has:
    Referring Domains
    1,428
    External Backlinks
    23,201
    917 Referring IP addresses
    827 are Class C subnets
    37,403 Indexed URLs

    I have:
    Referring Domains
    101
    External Backlinks
    700
    98 Referring IP addresses
    90 are Class C subnets
    2 Indexed URLs

    All the best for you!

That seems like you are getting a whole lot for $300.
By 50k High PR blog posts, do you mean like BMR, or Blog Comments.

I'd love to see a case study that verified high PR blogpost (in spun irrelevant content as 90% of them are) is > a d0follow low OBL high PR comment.
It still smells of BS to me...

Blog comments. Not all bought. I have someone doing articles and .edu comments for free.
    Also just bought some traffic

That's pretty aggressive for a two week old domain! Hopefully you'll do well... but I have a feeling you may run into some serious sandbox...

This is why I plan on doing it in a three month period.
Probably will be 6-8 months for all the links to be indexed.
Only going to ping them every week or so.

I plan on doing this to a few of my other sites once this site pays off.

Agreed. I have seen this with my own sites. G just does not like to rank new sites for competitive words.
Getting them to first page never seems to be an issue for me.
Once I'm there though, I begin the dance/sandbox routine for months.
One of my sites I swear has ranked at every single position between 1-50.

Haven't built a site on a new domain in a while though, but that was my experience in the past.
All my sites now are built on aged domains with backlinks. Fewer headaches. Fuck EMD's

Yeah-- to be honest this is more for personal satisfaction then actually making money.

If I make money cool, if I lose $300 and get personal satisfaction oh well.
I think of it this way.
$300 for 3 months of entertainment.
    90 days / 300$ = $2.xx a day

Ofcourse id like to monetize it though =P
