My friend sent me a tinyurl5 link on whatsup!!!

Hey i don't know if this is the right forum for this thread but i just got a message from a friend on whatsup which I don't have on my contacts
It's a tinyurl5 link when I checked on google typing only the domain name chrome said that is a fishing site
Someone please enlight me and my friend still not replying on me

Someone might have forwarded him so it might not be intentional from him.

It is surely not an emergency so just wait until your friend contacts you or try to reach out to them another way to see if their account is compromised. Never fall for "fear of missing out (FOMO)" to click a suspicious link.
 
99.999999% sure it’s a bad link. May be call your friend up and ask him/her whether he/she really sent you the link. In general, avoid clicking on fishy links specially while on mobile.
 
I have received about 10 of these in the past 24 hours. And some (mostly elders) even had it as their status.

It's a WhatsApp scam. These seem to come in hoards.

The link looks something like this

tinyurl5.ru/xxxxxxxx

When clicked on, it promises an extravagant giveaway to unsuspecting users and then as a first step asks the user to share the link via WhatsApp messages.

Further down the line, it asks for a shit ton of personal information, before dropping them to a CPA landing page or getting them to download and install a PUA on their phones.

Delete the message, call your friend and tell him to stop clicking on random links sent to him.

Delete it and ignore links like this going forward they are no good.
