    Hi there,

    I've started some journey threads in this forum before and with the same speed they started they've ended. I've come to realize I set unrealistic goals thinking the bigger I set them, the more I'll accomplish.

    Online it doesn't work that way. I understand now that if I want to be successful online, I have to set goals that I can reach. It's when you hit these targets then you start setting bigger goals.

    Knowing all of this I've decided to start this journey, it's a small goal, but I know by hitting it I'll be motivated to reach for more. Also with this thread, I hope to inspire some of you to take action.

    What I'll be doing for this journey is article writing. I've already launched a thread promoting my services in another forum and waiting for some clients.

    This thread is to allow me to stay focus on the goal. After I hit the goal, I'll raise it to maybe $1000. The money I make from this journey I'll reinvest into growing a bigger business or a Nintendo Switch...lol.

    What I've Done So Far:

    * Set up a site with some content on it to showcase my writing style
    * Launch a thread in another forum to get some clients
    * Started this thread to keep me focus

    My Goals:

    * Hit $500 in a month.
    * Hit $1000 in a month.
    * Hit $1500 in a month.

    I'll start with the first goal which is $500 per month. $500 per month means I need to make about $16.66 Per day. Breaking it down this way makes it a lot easier for me to hit.

    Wish me luck. I'll do my best to update this thread as much as I can.

    I must also note before I go any further I did some writing online before but I lacked consistency. This is the main reason for me starting this thread so I can force myself stay on track and stay focused.

    Update:

    So yesterday I was contacted by a potential client. He wants to have an ebook written.

    The total of the job would be $200.00

    I also had another client who ordered in bulk and has already paid me half for the job.

    The client paid $168! The total of the job is going to be $336 when it's completed. Guess I'm going to hit my goal faster than I thought.

    Made so far: $168
    Amount to go: $332

    Hopefully, I'll close the client for the ebook writing soon and work on getting half of the payment upfront.

    Thoughts:

    The hardest part is actually staying motivated and focused in order to get the writing completed. What I've noticed is that once I get into a groove I'm able to get lots of work done.

    Hopefully, I can stick to it and hit my goals.

    Back to the grind! Stay Focused!

    btw, I just finished a transcript.. I hated it.. but one customer wanted it from me, and even my high price did not scare him away..
    4 hours listening to his voice.. yackk.

    Will keep a close watch on this journey. :)

    I can relate to you talking about staying motivated and focused being 2 tough-to-hurdle aspects of the writing craft. So, how do you "get into a groove" to overcome said issues and get things done?

    Right now I am writing on a variety of different topics. It sucks most times, but you do get to learn a lot about different subjects. I'm doing things this way because I feel it gives me a chance to figure out what topics I like writing on. Once I get a feel for the writing I like doing I'll then niche down and start charging more for my time.

    The easiest way for me to get into the writing groove is to start writing. I know it may sound simple, but that's what I do. I set a small goal. If have a 500-word article to write I break it down into smaller goals. Instead of thinking about the whole article I have to write I tell myself I'll only write 50 words or I'll only write for a minute. A small goal like that gets you writing.

    What I do other times is I sit for a while and think about my goals. I think about what my life would be like if I didn't do the work. I think about how much my life would suck.

    Over the years of studying and reading about the mind, the biggest thing I've learned is that procrastination is the result of tasks appearing too hard or too painful for your brain. We rather pleasure than the pain of having to sit and write articles.

    So what I do is I create a scenario in my mind where it would be more painful for me not to take action then it is to take action. If you work at a job you hate and you want to start making money online think about having to work at the suckish job for the rest of your life because you won't sit and take action.

    Normally, after I've done enough imagining and thinking about my life this way I can't help but take action.

    Try it and let me know

    Cause I hate "writing", I usually trick my self to first record a youtube video or screencast of the topic. then dragon dictate the video in a abreviated version.
    still sucks. But I dont have to force my brain into the usual logic structured writing way ...

    All boils down to having the right mindset then, right? Not always easy to do, but yeah, it's doable. :)

    Thanks again, buddy!
