    Hi, I'm creating this post to keep track of my journey, help people how want to make the same journey as me and hopefully get some input from people that have more experience in this that what I do.

    For some time I have been web developing freelance a bit there and there will finishing my degree in computer science and now that I have finished my degree and want to move to freelance full time, the thing is I don't know how to sell, market and all of that so the journey begins :)

    What I have at the moment:
    - A domain name and hosting;
    - Some images of websites I developed;
    - My CV

    What I think I will need:
    - A media kit to present companies
    - Some open source projects to showcase my skills in PHP, Python and Node
    - A logo (already ordered at fiverr)
    - A presence at Instagram, Twitter

    I'm waiting my logo to be completed so that I can start the development of the portfolio website.

    I pondering if I should create a facebook page instead of using my personal facebook.

    I'm accepting to do some work pro bono if it's something cool that I can add to my portfolio.

    You don't need a social media presence yet, seems like a waste of time and something unnecessary that will waste your focus.

    How are you going to be prospecting?

    I have been using my instagram account to prospect so I kind of need it, I think :/

    What I'm doing is posting images of past websites I have developed on instagram and when people like my post or follow me I start a conversation with them and tell them that I'm freelancing and accepting new work, only 2 people have replied to me this way.

    I want to start sending presentation emails but the freelancer I contacted at fiverr to deliver me a logo is taking too long, should I email people without having a logo?

    At this moment I'm selling to everyone that wants to buy my services, I really need to improve my portfolio and put me out there, but the clients I want to land are media/marketing agencies and web design studios as I'm a programmer and I just want to build code for them.

    I'm a complete noob at marketing, one of the reasons I have made this tread so that people that want to start they business can see the mistakes I have made. At the moment and just using instagram to reach out to people, in the future I will be contacting people by email. I'm thinking of posting some add at a news paper, do you think that will work?

    Depending on the country you live and the number of sales prospects.

    Online usually count on a repeat purchase or regulars.

    If you live in Canada, you should buy the review of the BBC or CNN.
    Then you will be quickly known and has many prospects quickly

    The BBC and CNN review looks awesome, I had no idea. Sadly I'm from Portugal, we have nothing like that here (I think will search more about this).

    You need a lot of reviews of famous people.
    So that your product will be quickly known, believed and bought by their followers

    Fiverr should try and build a personal site with fb ads marketing

    Just search for local companies with bad websites (not responsive) visit or call them. Most small companies dont know how to do that. Good Luck
