Hey guys. I have a forum running off what I think to be the latest version of VB. This forum is not like any forum. This one is special, It is so special that it has the power to turn the webmaster community on it's ass. Anyways I wont say which one it is, but some of you probably have seen it and chuckled about it. Well this baby is a money printing machine and almost everyone knows it. It's raised more than a few eyebrows. But the problem is it keeps getting hacked (by some bitches). I am tired of it. Is there anything that I can put up as a security measure that will prevent these malicious attacks?

i think moving to a secured host would help.go with a reputed and secured host like host*gator.

HAHAHA thanks for the laugh today.. You think yoru forum is gonna do all of that? Yet you can't stop an attack?

Pathetic

If what you say is true contact vBulletin, if someone is able to exploit the latest version of their software they will want to know about it and will probably work with you to help pinpoint the point of entry.

i doubt it will do anything to the webmaster community. you've obviously been pissing on the hacker subcommittee community

You could get the Firewall Script which BHW uses maybe.
Is your forum by any chance the "DP Sucks" one? It was recently hacked or something too ;)

If your forum is as cutting edge and irreverent as you say, you are going to be facing security threats on a regular basis. Hackers and wannabes will screw with your site just for the hell of it. You should anticipate these threats and potential exploits by learning as much as possible about VB vulnerabilities. Without knowing what site you are referring to, or how it was exploited, you will be hard pressed to find a definitive solution to your dilemma without letting someone take a look.

*If your site is making a good ROI, seriously consider dedicated hosting.
*Make sure admincp and modcp are renamed and changed accordingly in config.php
*Heed the advice of evilrabbi and ramage, use a firewall script and get a security audit.
*Check the VB site for security patches.
*Ensure your forum is configured securely.

I agree with delmages. Also, they may have left a backdoor in your code. I'd reinstall VB from fresh and just use your old database. And go with a good reputable host like hostg*ator or god*addy.
