Hi, My name is.... not important.

My plan is to make a niche site, that would generate me some income at all. I figured, if I can make a site that gets me 1$ a month that's great! That means I just have to make 10, 100 , 1000... websites and make more , right ?

A little back story. *** please skip this part if you're tired of these bull***t , eye tearing stories ***

I come from a small poor country ( obviously). I didn't have it easy, had to leave my home in search for a better life. long story short, I moved to another country, life has gone a lot better from that point on. Peaces finally started falling into their places. Life finally got better.

I've been interested in IM for about 5-6 years now. Things changed, updates came and went. I tried making small sites for PPD and PPI. Things didn't work out as I had a shty mind-set and couldn't stick to it. Then I tried making websites for CB products. Also didn't work out, no determination , same mind-set. Then , and this one's funny. I decided to make a authority website targeting health niche. I know, silly of me to think I could over rank healthline and webmd who basically dominate the living **** out of it. So yea , good thing I came to my senses and dropped it. So far we figured out that I can't finish things that I start. But time went , I got a little bit wiser and mature. And then I thought to myself, if after 5-6 years I still hasn't left my mind for a minute, then it's time to find my long lost balls and do it. And I did.

I had a facebook page that I've created for fun. Got it up to 3,6 k , mostly with addmefast. I left it sit there for about 4 years as I was busy doing nothing. As majority of you know, addmefast likes are useless, at least in my eyes their dead clicks. Most of those accounts are banned, dead or abandoned. So it count's for nothing.

**** End of bs story, welcome back ***

What I have done so far:

So about 2-3 months ago , I decided I'll give it another try, try and bring it to an actual life. I made add, using facebook's promotion. Plan was to spend 60$ , 2 $ a day, to get some real likes and get the ball rolling. Unfortunately after about a week or so, add was taken off, I've violated facebook's policy. I knew that will happen sooner than later. It doesn't really matter. I got around 2-3k likes out of it , and only spent 23$. After promotion ended, my daily fb likes had a huge drop as you can Imagine.

I kept on posting , I still had like 10-20 likes a day, and to me that was something. It picked up eventually, now I'm getting 100-700 likes a day, which is great. the whole point of this fb page in my head, is to make some sales by putting an aff link in there once in a while and mostly to support the niche site that I'm working on. I also made a group that is growing in numbers as well. I'll talk numbers in a minute.

Got a domain name, got hosting. Installed wordpress, and started writing. I could buy articles, but the thing is, I don't want to go through all the husstle trying to find the right writer. I know there's a lot of freeloaders out there, I got a 1000 word article off fiver once. Dude basically copied text from some other website, span it with automated text spinner and tapped himself on a shoulder, job well done. Anyway, I though , why pay for something when I can do it my self. I'm just starting out so I don't want to be throwing my hard earned money to something I can do. Also I have finally found a niche that I'm really interested in. I have a different mind-set now, I'm at peace of giving it my all now. I'm no longer thinking of far far future and how hard it will be ( that's planning for failure, and that's even dumber than regular planning).

So far I have spent some time trying to optimize my website. I think I did it. I have written 3 articles for it:
    article 1 : 3600 words, targeting 1 keyword
    article 2: 1500 words, targeting 1 keyword
    article 3: 800 words, targeting 1 keyword
Got my fb fan base up to 13k+ , fb group 100+
I have also made pinterest account I got 1 follower

I'll be using various affiliate programs, one of them will be amazon. I don't think my niche has a very hard competition. only thing I plan to spend my money on is , offsite seo , I could do it myself , but I'm not that experienced and it just seems very time consuming.

    My goal is:

Getting my fb fan base to at least 500k , fb group as large as I can get it.
    Complete my website
    Move on to another niche.
Eventually make enough money so I can quit my day job
    So far I have spent/made

18$ or so on domain name + 100$ something for hosting
    23$ on fb promotion
    total of 141$

    Made:0 so far

Sorry for a long overdue blabbering, I'll me my future updates short and on the point. I have 3 days off from my day job, so my plan is to write 2-4 articles , make a proper static home page for my site, and if I have enough time , schedule posts for pinterest . I have my fb posts scheduled for another one and a half month so I can leave it be for now and focus on other things. I'll update when I have something to show for. Thanks to those who took time out of their lives to read this, I hope some of you will follow this journey with me and maybe It will encourage you to follow-through with your own plans.

    Thank You.

Good luck with the journey mate I hope you make it.
Can you tell me what your niche is? Well I mean not the exact niche but the broader category like technology, health etc

I am just curious since all those Facebook updates and I have seen only few niches survive on the platform.

    Sure. It's gardening
    Thanks for your support lad.

Well , I took a little different approach, it's not really targeted at potential buyers, which I realised later. I think I found a way to make it work, but , we'll see how that turns out. And my niche is gardening. I red a lot of journeys here, after all it is true, no matter what method you choose , it only works if you give it a little twist.

    Update

Hello guys, my first update after making this journey thread. I'm happy to say that I'm still at it, not a single thought of quitting has crossed my mind.

So I had 3 days off, I tried to get as much done as I could. Wish I had more time for this, but I have to spend some time with gf too.

    What I did so far:

    Wrote another 2 articles ( 1. 500+ words , targeting 1kw)(2.1000 words, targeting 2kw's)
Already posted 1st article, going to post next one in 2-3 days. Already have 4 articles posted. I know they're all indexed, but I have no idea where they appear in serp.
Also made a static page for my website, as it was blog type of homepage before.

My fb page is still at 13k , group at 130 members. Got a very sharp drop in fb likes over last 7 days, went from 500-700 day to 20-50 day. I guess it's a luck ride, if a post goes "viral" likes jump up.

The only thing I didn't do what I planned is scheduling pinterest posts, didn't have time. But that is still on my to do list.

I made my first sale! few days ago, random sale from fb aff promo - 6,50$ WOOHOO! I know its funny and random, but It did boost my morale a little.

    Problems encountered

I did run in to some problems, one of them was this. When I posted my first article, I forgot to tick some boxes in yoast so that my categories and archives and tags wouldn't be indexed . And I got same article appearing in serp when I google my site... I don't know if it's bad or really bad. My concern is that, it wouldn't be considered as duplicate content. Also I have no idea where my articles are ranking if ranking anywhere at all. Some free tools I used didn't provide much info at all for that matter.

I'm still learning on the go. If you have any tips I will greatly appreciate them. I'm not asking to be spoon fed, I can google or search forum as anyone else.

Gonna be working for 6 days now (12 hour shifts) so my next update will be in about 10 days. Thank you for support. Till next time

Best of luck mate. Keep up the good work. Always nice to see those first commissions come in.

My one suggestion would be to make sure you make one website a success before you move on to the next and make sure that you don't start neglecting it when you start looking at the next one.

    Update

Hello once again. This update is coming a little later than I was planning, but it's here.

So I haven't got much done since my last update, my day time job takes most of my time. But I do as much as I can.

What have I done since my last update

I have written 2 more articles (1 - 600 words, 2-1000 words) , both focusing 1 keyword each. 1 more article in progress, should be done by the end of the day.
I have created a pinterest account , posted over 400 pictures on it and scheduled some for upcoming week, while I'll be at work. ( I know I have posted that I had pinterest account made and runing in my last update, but due to some problems I ran into with it, I got that one terminated and made another one from scrach)
Created instagram account (nothing on it yet, soon to be updated)
Created Tumblr account (nothing on it yet, soon to be updated)

    what's coming up next?

I need to schedule posts for pinterest for a month or two, so I could forget about it for a while. Fill instagram account and tumblr with posts and schedule some for future if possible (not sure if all social platforms have the option to schedule posts). Write more articles for website . I also had an idea of making a page on my website, with like a shop option with affiliate products from my niche, but I keep that idea on a shelf for now.

    Stats

My fb page went up to 14k from 13k ( more about that later) , fb group got up to 190 from 130.

Pinterest account that I have made last week got 1,9k monthly views and some engagement, which is good I think for a page that's been there for just a week ( not sure on that one since I have never used pinterest before in my life)

My website is getting some visitors too, mainly from the two social platforms mentioned above . Like 2-3 visitors a day which is still an increase from 0/day

    Problems solved/encountered

Well from what seach console tells me, all of my posts are indexed and 1 of them is ranking for the keyword that I was aiming at. Approx rank 170, not amazing but at least now I know it's ranking somewhere. I assume that's better than nothing, considering that I have no backlinks whatsoever. I think after a while other of my posts will pop up too, just takes some time. So you can say that one of the problems of not knowing where I'm at is solved.

Now this one is a good one.
I think I might have rushed to say that I didn't get hit by it. On my first update I mentioned that I was getting 200-700 likes a day, which was true. But after that I got a huuge drop to 10-20 likes a day. I'm not quite sure why, but I have a theory. Around that time I started posting affiliate links on the page, 1 link a day with a picture. I scheduled these posts in between my regular posts for a month to see how things will go. A little experiment u might say. And after that month I came to conclusion, that those links were probably the main cause of that drop. Now about a week has passed since last time I posted aff link, and it started growing back up a bit, to 20-120 a day. I can't say that it was exactly because of that, but sure looks like a strange coincidence.

The reason behind me putting effort into social platforms, is that I think it's a good place to make some exposure for your site. My idea is to surround it with those social platforms for quicker indexing, better diversity, and exposure. I don't think of as a main source of traffic, I just think it's a good addition to the bigger picture. Also in some way makes your site look more legit, at least in my eyes.

Thanks for all the support, I'll be back soon with hopefully more to show for.

    Update

Hey guys, haven't updated in a while now, my pc was broken so I had to get another one. I did get some stuff done in that time tho.

I have written another article (1k words for 1 kw)
Updated menu (first version was fairly useless)
    Scheduled posts for pinterest

    Stats:

    Fb page: +2000 likes , Fb group: +19 . Total: fb page 16k , group 209
    Pinterest: 14k monthly views , 3 followers >.<
Website: 2-10 visits daily, 9 articles done( few keywords ranking with no backlinks, main kw 107 , kw2 79, kw3 70)

Having even slight change like that certainly boosts up my morale to move forward.

    To do:

Untill next update, I hope to post at least 3-5 more articles and finish off "shop" page on website ( more about that later)
    Schedule more pinterest posts
    Get tumblr page done
Look for more ways to increase traffic

    Notes:

I have started making a "shop" page on my website using woocomerece plugin. While it looks great and nearly as I'd like it too be, I have one very big concern about it. Since I'm promoting affiliate products on it, basically buttons on the shop lead to aff site, to a certain product and not to checkout. I might contact aff site to get more info if I can lead visitors straight to checkout if they decide to buy the product. Also , I'm basically using descriptions of products on my "shop" from aff site, and I'm really worried that I wouldn't get penalized by serp for duplicate content. I have added noindex and nofollow meta tags using yoast seo plugin to both "shop" page and individual product pages. I'm not sure if doing so is a good idea, as I've red that google doesn't really like noindex tags ... Has anyone encountered something like this before, is there a better way around it? Or should I just remove the "shop" page from my website to avoid any funny business ? While having it would be good, I'd rather not have it and have my site ranking for the articles I worked on instead of having the whole website not ranking at all just for the sake of having that " shop" page. Any thoughts on that? I'm trying to wrap my head around it, but I haven't found a clear answer yet

On a better note, after I get to 15-20 articles done , I'm planning to invest in my site a little. Getting well designed logo and covers for my site and fb page, to replace the basic ones I got from fiverr ages ago. And investing in some backlinks, gonna look around this forum for that.

Thank you all for the support, this time I feel like I will make it. I think the reason for it is , that I'm not gonna quit, even if I have to struggle hard.
