My first Journey – Watch me Build and rank a niche site within 90days

Congratulations with your first sale!

At the moment I am working on a few niche sites, they are not moving as fast as yours though...

Is that just luck or does this always happen?

hey Nilz thanks!
Just keep working at your niche sites eventually you will start seeing remarkable results.
Which aspect are you asking to if it's luck; is it the ranking or the generated revenue aspect?

Nice journey! Nice results too. I've found it hard to get traction with new domains, but its clearly still working. Nice job!

I'm purely asking about ranking :)

I'm purely asking about ranking :)

Well it is not about luck but all depends on how you are building your links and the quality of links you are pointing to your money sites.
For this journey, i am all about quality over quantity. So I'm building few high PR links to the money site. Hope that helps but feel free to ask questions if you still have any.

Congrats on your first sale! That has to be a great feeling knowing your hardwork is paying off. Keep it up, and keep us updated. This journey is really motivating

Thanks a lot MacAirt!
Its always definitely a great feel seeing sales knowing that your hard work is finally starting to pay off!
Since it is not my intention to leave this journey halfway....i will definitely keep updating this journey until i reach my goal.
Cheers!

Thanks, but I meant the ranking itself. You state that your site was ranking after 2 days without doing anything. Is that luck?

First off - my SEOBOOK subscription ran out and as you can see above, I'm currently tracking my keyword with Longtail Pro ATM.

I?m doing this update today because I intend to keep this thread updated with the latest happenings with my niche site journey. As you can see above, there is nothing spectacular happening except a +3 improvement on my ranking. The Niche site is currently ranking at #16 for it's primary keyword. I am gradually judo chopping my way to the first page and obviously bringing this journey to an end.

This is a critical stage in my journey and in order not to become restless and build out links faster than it should be and get the site penalized, I will be starting a new journey soon. This new journey will serve as a way of diversifying my full attention from this particular site.

Cheers!

** 2nd Sale**

Another Quick Update: Yesterday, the site recorded its 2nd affiliate sale for a niche item valued at $346. since I'm still at a 4% commission level in Amazon affiliate program, the $346 niche item sold yesterday results in a $13.84 commission bringing my total income from this niche site to $30.00. Not bad for a niche site that is roughly 50 days old.

Cheers!

Thanks pike222 for your kind words2. Yes! I intend to keep updating this thread to the end of my journey. Yes got it right. It all depends on the competitiveness of the keyword. With proper keyword research, you only need few links to rank on top spots.

I don't Know the exact links pointing to the site at the moment but I think it?s about 30 -50 links. With about 98% of them being dummy links. To diversify my links, I built dummy comments and web2.0 links. For the comments, I make use of Scrabebox to look for high PR sites that I can drop comments and get links back to my site.

My Traffic is very poor at the moment because my site is still down on SERP although it has managed to do some sales. I think the highest UV in a day was about 13 visits. But one interesting thing I have noticed about this niche site is that, it has high conversion rates and this I can attribute to 2 factors;

 1. Keyword Research ? the keywords for this niche site are very buyer targeted and I guess that is why the few visits the site has managed to get has really converted into sales.
 2. Site layout ? site layout is another integral part of a niche site which determines how well it will convert traffic into sales. My landing page (home page) consist of reviews and a table showing few of the top rated products on amazon and of course a link to those products.
Now on my click through rates and conversion on amazon; the first day the site recorded a sale, I don?t recall what the click through rate was but the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] sale the site generated was 8 clicks = 1 sale.
I hope I have answered all your questions. If you still have more questions, don?t hesitate to ask.
Cheers!

UPDATE #10

It?s been a while since I last updated this thread and that has been because I have had a lot going on my mind. After much thought and consideration, I have decided to pause this journey at the moment because of one major disturbing factor which is the monetization method of the niche site used in this journey.

Well for those that have been following this thread, you obviously are aware that Amazon Affiliate program has been the primary monetization method used and recently I have come to the conclusion that it is not the best monetization method for me ATM.

Why? Because for me (live outside US) it takes a minimum of 60 days (2 months) for my Amazon check to arrive and another 21 days for it to be cleared in my local Bank. At the moment, this is not very convenient for me as I can?t afford to wait that long to be paid.

Based on that, I have decided to switch from monetizing my niche sites with Amazon to Google AdSense. Sadly I can?t monetize the present site I built in this journey with Google AdSense as the keyword the site is ranking for doesn?t favor AdSense.

That is why I have decided to bring this journey to a pause ATM and I hope to start a new journey where I will be using AdSense as the monetization method soon.

What will happen to the niche site used in this journey? ATM I have no plans for the site. I probably will allow it to site around for a while. I might decide to still go ahead and rank it and there after sell it off or I might sell off as it is to someone else to continue developing it. BTW, the site is doing very well in terms of ranking and sales. So far, it has about 120 search queries showing up in my Google webmaster tool dashboard. The ranking is dancing between #16 and #20. With few high PR links, it probably will have landed on the top 10 spot. But as I already stated, I can?t afford to invest into it anymore ATM. That?s all for now. I want to thank everyone that has followed and contributed to this thread. Cheers!

Hello everyone,

I know I had officially stopped work on this journey but just of recent something dramatic has happened that has made me changed my mind about abandoning this thread.

Watch out for my next update coming soon where I will reveal what motivated me to reopen this thread. Also in my next update, I will be sharing the site current rankings as well.
That's all for now.

Cheers!
