I have been working over the last several days setting up my first autoblog. I could use some serious feedback. I know there are a couple spots that need filling in. I believe this is a decent niche.

    starvingbloggers.com

    Thanks in advance

Very nice blog. What theme is that? Also you may want to stick a privacy policy on there. There is a plugin for that called "privacy policy v1.1"

At least I think that is the right version-someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Not bad, I like the above the fold area, it's a good place to put ads and what not.

You should probably put an index file in your plugins folder.

    http://starvingbloggers.com/wp-content/plugins/

I don't like the out links for some of your posts.. unless these are you websites, for example Would you like to learn more? Go to: http://www.successfulfather.com/signup/ and learn how to get your free Ebook and free lessons on the law of attraction!

    That's not good to have.

The related posts.. there is an option to add extra bits of text from that posts? I didn't know yarp did that.

Is basicstate.com your site? If not you might want to remove the footer text linking to it.

You should probably add a privacy policy page.. use the privacy policy plugin to do that.

A busy looking site.. but not bad.

it seems incomplete (for example, "content area 1")
and i think the ads in the column on right aren't too well placed. do check out how many clicks u get over there as compared on the ads on top.

the theme looks very good. :)

EDIT: why is a privacy policy so important?

I think its a requirement for Google adsense.I could be wrong though.

Thank you all for the feedback. The site was built using FlexSqueeze. To be honest I feel that it is over-hyped as a theme. You can achieve the same results using Flexibility 2 theme instead. The way FlexSqueeze uses it's Squeeze page is that it becomes a tab on the site which is something I wouldn't want.

I use Automatic Blog (which I wish would allow you to pull from more than one category) and WP Videotube (which has the option to allow the comments of the video to be included) for the videos. I am still working with Videotube to fine tune a couple of things.

Q: why would I want to put an index file in my plugin folder? or is it a plugin?

As for clicks with my adds I get OK numbers but not really generating buys that I can see. Even Adsense is smaller than what I would like to see.

Also thanks for the tip about the privacy policy. BTW - the creator of the software writes that self hosted WP doesn't need a privacy policy but having installed it I think it's a GREAT and MUST HAVE plugin.

Basicstate.com is what I use to trigger the Automatic Blog plugin because it visits my site every 15 minutes to check the site and make sure it is functioning properly and if it's not I receive an email alert.

Q: Should I really remove the link to them?

RE: the link for free info it came as part of the post and I am guessing I should read and edit my posts for such things.

One final thought - I am really new to this kind of online marketing (I do run a book publishing business that I hope to implement some of these techniques for that business) so you will probably find very few posts or comments by me. I do plan on sharing things that work for me as I continue to learn.

    Cheers

When I was reading about YARP on here the thread read that it would pull info from the web that was related to my site content. Maybe I read it wrong or configured it wrong? Once it was installed it pulled only from my site.

If I go to your plugins folder I can see the directory tree, see which plugins you use, and could probably hack the crap out of your page if I wanted too.

That's exactly what I thought, just wanted to double check, because I have seen several such sites where there is an index available of the plugins

My site has been receiving some traffic and my Alexa numbers are taking off. If the numbers are true I am just under 500k now which isn't too bad. My problem is no one seems to be clicking the Adsense ads.

Am I doing something wrong? Ideas would be greatly appreciate.

    Cheers,

You must be doing something right. Your Alexa rank is doing pretty good. I started my autoblog almost 2 months ago and I'm still at 1,466,994. As for adsense clicks-I've been told that it takes a lot of traffic to get those clicks. For instance, I have 17 autoblogs. I have made $8.81 with adsense off all 17. So I definately am not relying on adsense to pay my bills.

So maybe-get more traffic and backlinks-that may help with clicks. I see you've monetized it other ways too-which is a good thing.

Also I think certain niches do better than others. I originally bought my domains for the Ebay Partner Network. So my domains are Ebay niches. Other people that do autoblogs seem to do technology niches and seem to do well with the adsense clicks-or they at least report that they do.:)

Have you done any social bookmarking? That may help. Also article marketing.
