For a few years now I have been trying to sell amazon products through my website and haven't had any luck selling anything (not even one product). My account would usually get canceled for not having any sales and then I would eventually create another one and start a new idea.

However, a couple days ago I started a Youtube channel and uploaded a video and got a bit of traffic to the video through social media. I was curious if I got any sales and it appears that the stats don't update very often. So I've been checking and checking, and finally this morning it updated and it looks like I have some sales! :)

    It shows the following:

    Earnings Summary

    Total items shipped 0

    TOTAL EARNINGS * $0.00

    Orders Summary

    Ordered items 4

    Clicks 9

Yay! But so.... a few questions I was wondering though...

    1. How come there are no earnings? Does that just take time? Or do I have to wait until it's shipped first or something?

    2. I'm assuming my account is going to be going through a approval process now that I have my first sale. I'm just wondering though, will that be a bad thing if I only have the product listed on Youtube? (and not my website?)

    3. Also, for the approval process. Is it a bad issue if none of the sales were actual products that I was selling? It seems like people clicked on my link, and then purchased a different product on Amazon.

    Thank you!

    1. You will see the earnings when the products are shipped.
    2. That might be a problem, sometimes Amazon dosent like links from websites other then the ones specified on the affiliates panel.
    3. Thats nothing wrong with selling products because of the cookies, dont worry about that.

Your account will get credited ones the orders are shipped. If you are linking to amazon directly from Youtube, i would advice you remove it and add your website instead.

Your account will be review by amazon, if it is a unique one, it will get accepted, if not, it will be rejected and you will lose out in the sales.

    Thanks guys!

Regarding #2, do you think it would be acceptable if I just left the Youtube video up there, but then creating a blog post or something on my website embedding the video and trying to sell the product there too?

So then it looks like maybe somebody seen it on my website, and then clicked through to the youtube video and bought clicked there?

Just change the link in the description to you website and not directly to amazon. What is done is done and you cant do much now. But i think that it is not a violation since amazon somehow allows links on social sites and well known sites, as long as it is posted from the official page of the site.
For example I have seen big youtubers which post their affiliate links directly in the video description. However you should be careful with that.

Play it safe and redirect from the video to your website and then to amazon.

Ok I will do that :p I'm wondering now if it's a bit late though haha considering I'm sure the first thing any reviewer is going to check is the referral URL and see that it came from Youtube, but then check the video and that it was changed.

But I'll try it anyways and see if it works :) Thanks guys.

Update: Shyte... I just got an email from Amazon saying that I was rejected.

Why you ask? Because they cannot access my website.

Conveniently at the same time that they decided to review my website, my Web Host started having some server issues causing the website not to work...

I tried contacting them to re-check the website and explaining it's just a server issue but they say there's nothing that I can do once the application has been rejected and I have to re-apply.

    Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!

Do you guys know: if after I eventually get approved, is there a lot of worry about them continuously reviewing your site or traffic sources? (.. like i just mean... is it a lot easier to get away with stuff once you've already been approved?)
