my failed experience and on the verge of quitting

How are you doing keywords research? How many articles do you currently have on the website? How do you structure your articles?
I've got about 83 blogs give or take.
Hi, have you tried google ads?
Can't use Google ads because it's for CBD Oil.
Bro... @sanweez
You need a deep audit before giving any advice. But il try.

The niche is competitive i feel.

Your monthly visiters are low, for the time you been online. And fornthe DR you have maanaged to gain. Kinda indicates bad keyword research that hasnt improved over two years.

If you bought links from BHW i hope you bought from the decent sellers. The bad sellers will 100% cause your site to stagnate and get lower in the serps. Good links dont do that.

So because you have did alot over the years its hard to advise. Part of me feels you need to double down on more LOW COMPETITION topics. You could even just copy paste competitors and use quillbot to paraphrase and upload to wordpress.

Or spend a month churning out as many PAA pages as you can till your fingers bleed.

The thing is, youve got a reputation on google, just focus on informational content.

Throw some questions at me if you want. Happy to help, only sell it if you want it absolutley gone. Then purchase a nice expired domain and try again
That's awesome advice, and I appreciate you bro! I think that's what I needed to hear. My most recent posts are lower competitive key words with lower search volume. I need to check out quillbot becuase writing some of these blogs are driving me crazy! I def don't have enough PAA pages, but my blogs always answer questions!

Oh i didn't know you cannot use google ads for this. I dont know much about your niche but I would recommend you do a powerful video marketing about this oil. State what is the benefit of using this oil.

Never give up. Nothing comes easy. Keep brainstorming and somehow you will find your way thru!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to share this, but here is my story and here's where I need help.

Hello all, my first time really posting here, but I've been working on a pet blog that sell CBD oil for dogs. I've been helping my friend by utilize keyword research, and curating blogs. The website has been around for about 2 years now and has quite a few blogs. The website has gone up and down in visitors over the last 2 years. At one point, it was getting 700 visitors then back down to 200, then back up to 700. It's constantly fluctuating. Personally, I don't reach out for help much, but my partner has convinced me to reach out to the community that I've been relying on. I'm really looking for some kind of direction, insight, intel, or information to just help me move in the right direction.

The reason I came here is because we're currently running out of ideas of what to do to increase rankings and visitors on the website. We're coming to a place where we're either going to sell the website and brand, or just shut-down completely. I've read quite a bit of posts on BHW and a lot of the information is helpful, but I'm trying to understand what last dying attempts I can make to try to save this project.

Below, is some of the things we've done, or are working on:

  • We had spent $$ on backlink service, but currently we're not spending $$ on backlinks.
  • We've got a massive emailing list (20k+), but we're trying to warm-up and approach these emails in such way that we don't get flagged or blacklisted. These emails are targeted and specific to our industry, but we don't know the right way to approach this list.
  • We've also purchased 6 domains over time and they're currently just setup for 301 redirects to the main website. These websites are Google Domains and 1 of them is a blogspot with a few articles, but nothing more.
  • We've tried looking for influencers, but have no luck. We've tried finding affiliates, but they bring in no sales. This was one of our main focuses, but we failed really hard. Don't know where to pick-up or approach this.

Our focus has mainly been creating original content, keyword research, continuous blogging, and social media posting. This is on-going and this is something we're still focused on, but have paused everything else until we TRULY know the right direction and steps to take.

Given all the information above I feel like we're in a place where with a push in the right direction we might just make it. It seems like our infrastructure is setup for success, but the building blocks are collapsing or not working.

Ultimately, I have been using BHW to gain more knowledge and learn from others, but I've been falling short in all my attempts and I'm on the verge of giving up.

Here is some info from AHREFs.

CBD for cats/pets?!

@sanweez
Look into using POP or surfer seo, to further optimize your articles that are getting traffic.

I used to use surfer, but i only use POP now.

Pop is page optimizer pro.

Also when you say you have 83 blogs, do you mean blog posts?

Ps - what are your competitor sites like? You feel you can out do them?

Your blogs are very short I think you need to work on your onpage SEO. I'm also dropping you some advice in DM, but it's specific to your site so don't want no one to steal it.

too many popup, how many there are, like 2 as soon as you open the page? People will bounce and you will lose ranking. If you really want to use those popup, set them to trigger on exit intent not as soon as someone open your page

Man, first of all, don't share your url. Remove that part from the image.

Second of all, you can improve a lot just by reediting the current content with GSC keywords. This is insanely effective.

These emails are targeted and specific to our industry, but we don't know the right way to approach this list.
How did you get the subscribers? Is it opt-in? If yes, you can blast them np.

maybe try to search on google about "how to get guest post backlinks" and "guest post outreach guide". You need to build backlinks this way. It will take time but will work in long run. also install "NoFollow" plugin for mozilla.

I looked at your keyword rankings for the site and I’d say you’re doing pretty well! Your site is on first page for more than 100+ keywords with good traffic. I’d keep pushing links to those pages on first page to get #1 spot then you can figure out how to make money from your free traffic. Also your keywords have nice CPC for google AdWords , Could be another way yiu monetize. Tbh I don’t believe the affiliate way is the way to go. You’re still ranking and close to #1 on hella keywords I’d say your website is an upcoming success (traffic & rank wise). Just need more monetizing methods for your niche.

I don't think marijuana related products with animals has good publicity.
Not only that, I haven't heard of CBD for pets before. CBD for humans is a small enough niche as it is.

My opinion is you're doing good, but the results you're looking for would come from catching a bigger fish.
You can spit shine all you want. But at the end of the day, you're still fishing for minnows.

TLDR: niche is too small. good work though.

Hello,
Great story.

My advice: I`m pretty sure that first of all in order to make some critial decision important deep dive into the projects but I`m pretty sure that the core issue is that you bought 6 domains and redirect them to the main page + bought the links (you need really carefully check the quaity of such links and keep some growing strategy not posting all of the at once and keep the correct anhor distribution as well). You need to deep dive first of all in this area. Please have a look that you have a huge not organic spike in reffering page and domains graph. As well show me pleae your key links achors distributions so I`m pretty sure that you mix it pretty well and make lower important your main keywords and anchors that cause such issues.

But then as well important to deep dive in all another aspects that can couse to such things.

Here is you some of the anhors distribution:

As well, I deep dive a little bit on your content and don't see the next:

1. EAT - author expertise at all. But your content says "How to Euthanize Your Dog at Home" - this is part of YMYL content, and it can't rank too high if there is no author expertise and trust from the website. As well, is it legal to give such advice or not? So you need to understand this. How much % of such content is on your website etc.?

2. Table of Content
3. Warnings
3. List of Sources
4. Last Update Date
5. Lack of quality relevant backlinks

This is a small part what I can advcie to pay attention.

Here is not bad example how need look like some expertise content in how to medical niche: addictionresource.com/drugs/inhalants/nasal-spray/

So, essential refocus on existing pages and try to increase the ranks by working on the on page SEO. Yes 83 blog posts.

Thank for you input and advice. This was critical and I appreciate it. That example you sent me is def what I should be doing. Should I be removing the forwards to get rid of those anchors?

I would say spending $$ on backlink services and all, can keep some budget aside for Google ads and get very relevant traffic. Running campaigns for Keywords related to CBD for Oils can give you sales too.

This niche is VERY COMPETITIVE ( ALL CBD products). I will not even try to rank for it but you can learn from your experience and target something different with much lower competition and you may have a lot better results.

I would advice against adding simple PAA posts as someone suggested. Too many people are doing this automatically with tons of posts and Google penalties can arrive sooner or later. Saw stories were traffic was dusted after a few months.

If you came that far with this niche obviously you have the choice of selling the business/site or keep going with it. Some here gave good advice on on-page optimization and better backlinks, so this is the way to go.

Also social media needs more patience in the beginning then any day a post can go viral and it worth all the time spent.

Currently, I've started using POP because according to POP my on-page was not well curated. I'm also hunting and trying to find backlinks, but this is one the hardest tasks I've had to deal with.

And you need to manually remove earlier bad backlinks. for details search on youtube for details about bad backlinks and niche relevant backlinks.

trust me. you should quit. You are wasting money on hosting, writers, backlinks and much more waste of money
