Following what I learnt from two threads on Google Trends in this forum, I built a website using wordpress using the Revolution template which was suggested in one of the threads. I populated the website with personally written content articles based on the top 10 searches from google trends- the first day with 5 articles and then added 2 articles the next 3 days and the last day 3 articles- all based on the keywords from google trends top 10 keywords.

Here were some of the things I dd and some of the results.

Some of the things I did:

    1.used the revolution wordpress template
    2. attached all the necessary plugins eg cloak the links, seo plugin, autotagging, zementa, add in the pings list etc and used them on the site.
    3. change a beautiful professional header
    4. monetize by google and amazon and clickbank( haven't put in CPA etc )
    5. all articles and post written personally based on google trends keywords - nothing is auto generated.

Some of the problems I had with Google Trends and the method.
    1. trends are predominently "people-centric" , celebrity or about people - so if you write on these trends, it would basically be writing about people. The question of monetizing these trends are more difficult.
    2. Social bookmarking of the posts becomes difficult as there is a need for numerous accounts in order to bookmark every post.
    3. Identifying a "user buyer" trend ie . a trend that lasts several days and can result in many searches eg when a buyer searches for a product or news item that he is interested in or buying a product of his interest is difficult.
    4. The google adsense code could not be inserted within the post in the template and thus reduced the CTR - the adsense code remains within its original placement in the Revolution template, which isn't necessarily the best place for high CTR.

    Results:

    1. The website was indexed in Google within 4 hours, with the backlinks from the social bookmarking sites appearing within 20 minutes to half an hour after being put online. The use of the RSS mix and posting to RSS sites using RSS Submit did not seemed to help it in indexing or in getting backlinks.
    2. When three articles were posted based on 3 top google trends keywords, it gathered some 45 searches and resulted in 4 clicks which generated some $3.45 - this came about where the posts were digged. Where the posts were put up, without any social bookmarking or digging, there were 2 clicks which resulted in 0.11 cents from adsense for that day. It seemed social posting is very necessary to benefit from the short term trends from Google trends where it is the intention to monetize the traffic from adsense. There was increased clicks in amazon - but no sales within the one week period of the experiment. Perhaps there might still be some sales later on due to the cookie being set for those visitors to amazon through my links. But on the whole, adsense seems to be the quicker way to monetize. I'd like to see how the monetization goes when I place CPA ads on it.

It's early days yet because it is only a week since the site has been put up. I got a few ideas in accelerating my writing the content eg re-writing manually from rss search feeds based on the google trends keywords, adding in long tail keywords as well, and also thinking of using bodezzy's gmail creator to create accounts for purpose of bookmarking.

My target is to build up the site to earn around $100 a day from all monetization efforts on the site eg adsense, amazon, clickbank, cpa -its pretty slow with adsense, and even slower for amazon.

So I'll appreciate any Black hat techniques to accelerate the earnings or to improve the traffic. This is my first attempt to use Google Trends and I'll appreciate all advise and comments.

    Thanks.

I would use EPN over Amazon in my opinion because I have never had much with Amazon. I know that's not much of a explanation but I get about 1000 visitors per day and cant sell anything on Amazon but I do great on eBay.

You can also put some link of your blog in yahoo answers, it will increase the PR and also increase traffic.

After several days of getting mediocre results from blogging single or two items from google trends and getting very little traffic, I proceeded to use a semi auto blogging method by using wp o matic to scrape excerpts and autopost - each time manually editing the titles and add a little bit of personal content to the content to "tidy" it up. This has resulted in a little bit more adsense income, and a lot more views percentage wise:).

The next step in my experiment is to add in some CPA offers to see whether the blog can be further monetized although from most of the experienced google trends autobloggers, they are using adsense predominantly to monetize. The other important step is to find out a solely autoblogging method for google trends. So still studying and finding the perfect solution to autoblogging the google trends. I really would like to know the setup for an actual autoblogging of google trends from those who are actually experienced and doing it. Any help or comments would be most appreciated.

    Hi dealhunter,

Thanks for this tip. It's pretty depressing to see each sale of the amazon product at only 4%, at the start and then to reach 6% after some 7 sales - and then the next month to drop back to 4% and to start again...ugh.
I'll try to see whether I can do something with ebay EPN, thanks again.

    Hi blog bd1,

I have been getting quite a good number of links from the postings, and I think that getting a PR should naturally come as a matter of time. Its a new blog, so PR=0 now. But I like the idea of getting traffic by posting to Yahoo answers. The only thing is that most of the google trends are only transient in nature and normally revolve around people in the news, and seldom products. But then there are opportunities eg Michelle Aguilar winning Biggest Loser, so can post something to Yahoo answers regarding weight loss etc. Thanks for your tip.

    Hi 4wanglah,

Does this works by posting the adsense code in the middle of a post in wordpress? Thanks for your tip.

Further Results from Blogging google trends and autoblogging from my experiment:

    1. posts from the semi autoblog were almost all indexed by Google. To date over 1000 links have been indexed.
    2. only two posts from the full autoblog were indexed- all other posts from the rss feeds were not indexed.
    3. The traffic from the semi autoblog is at least 12 times that of the full autoblog on average daily.
    4. There is no appreciable difference for the full autoblog in terms of having an excerpt published or a full article in terms of adsense income. Getting a full rss feed for the autoblog to produce a full article that was posted on the blog did not result in an increase of adsense income. In contrast, using an excerpt seems to be preferred for the autoblog because the adsense ads were better showcased or can be seen easier. More important is the placement layout of the adsense ads - and not the full content. Changing the layout did helped to increase the adsense income somewhat on the full autoblog.
    5. Posts with videos attract more traffic than those without videos or graphics.

    Closing remarks:
    ----------------
I haven't tested the difference in adsense income between autoblogs based on google trends and news as compared to those based on niche topics eg selected narrow niches. But I feel blogging on niche topics might result in better adsense income or affiliate income.

I've always edited the code directly within WP to place the adsense ads exactly where I want them. This page goes into detail to how to do it:

    Code:
    http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/adsense/
I like to insert adsense into the text of the post, just below the title, floating left. But not for EVERY post, just the first one on each type of page. (single/archives/category) Look at the entry "But what if you wanted an ad to only appear under the first post and nowhere else ?" above to do it. I stick the adsense code into it's own DIV box so I can add padding and floating.

use the all in one adsense and ypn plugin and it will place it where you specify. I set mine to random, but it gives you many options.

    Hi Biks,

Your info was really helpful. From the link you provided, I managed to do some trial and error pasting, and hard-coded the placement of the adsense codes directly into the wp 2.7 template so that they appear at the correct place for each autopost. I'm sure the CTR will improve with this move.

Thanks again for that useful url.

I have a PR 6 entertainment type site that i have wanted to do something like this on for awhile. Im going to keep the niche on celebrity, which seems to be the majority of google trends. Instead of auto posting, i am going to copy and paste excerpts from a variety of different sources and do a custom title, url, and tags for SEO. And like Dascore said, it is important to have a vid or pic, so i will include at least 1 image or video in each post.

Will let you know how it goes later this week. Thanks for the post dascore

Since there was no re-writing of the auto posts from the rss feeds, these auto posts and auto pages were not indexed( except for 2 pages which had a bit of manual re-writing at the beginning of the experiment. This may be the main reason why traffic to the full auto post blog was lower than that of the semi auto blog which has on average 12 times more daily search engine traffic than the auto blog, as the semi auto blog has some edited posts to make them unique each time the posts were made.

I have deliberately refused to use any auto re-writing on the auto blogs because of the poor quality of the auto re-writing. I have heard that it is possible to use a script such as magician to mesh or blend several paragraphs from several articles to form a unique readable content. Are there any other methods to form unique readable content in this way? Thanks for any comments and help.

I'd like to report on some observations on my autoblogs.

While the new posts are being autoblogged daily ( around 5 new posts a day), the traffic has begun to dropped badly for the complete autoblog while the semi autoblog continues to get meaningful traffic. My deduction is that it is a must to have unique content in order to get the posts indexed and to gain traffic. Most of the posts for the autoblog are placed in supplementary index, while the posts for the semi autoblog are placed in the main index in Google. It appears that there has to be some re-writing on the posts..and forget about the jibberish english that comes usually with most re-writers. My conclusion is that for autoblogs, if we are to get traffic, it is necessary to re-write the posts or to make the posts unique. Just having the posts from RSS feeds, whether excerpts or full feeds just does not cut it for traffic. The quality of the autoblog will of course drop as the rss feeds content has to be re-written automatically, as compared to human editing and writing.

What are some good plugins that allow for posting of text, images, videos ? I think the wp-o-matic allows only text. Images and videos will increase the appeal and attractiveness of the wordpress blog as well.

    Thanks

    have you tried Uniquefier?

it will make your posts unique (to the search engine and copyscape) by adding javascript
