    So far, so bad.

The first one builds 24 profile links manually in 3.5 hours. Don't hear from him in 5 days. Now he claims his DSL went out.

The next one took 8 hours to write/spin an article, submit to 6 directories manually and bookmark them all.

    Another just doesn't respond.

They all had great reviews on Odesk.

    Is this typical?

Maybe I should just buy article marketing and blog commenting from the services section here on BHW and let another blackhatter do the babysitting for me.

You need to learn to evaluate them and only hire right
people. There are 100 lazy asses per one A player. You
only want to hire A players.

I am in the process of looking for some workers. Its not easy and don't go just for the 5 star feedback. Write emails back and forth and if you see spelling errors or grammatical errors you know the high spelling/writing scores are BS.

Maybe try a fixed price per article or SEO job. That way you don't have to worry about them milking the clock. I tried a couple people and they were slow as molasses but I set the max hours to 3 for each to see how fast they worked. The most I lost was $10 and I did get some work done.

I am close to finding a blog poster for cheap. I have been interacting and writing emails back and forth and the English has been very very good. Just keep looking and dont pick the guy thats willing to work for $2 and hour.

I've actually had some pretty good success using OnlineJobs.ph to hire. Right now I have 2 SEO guys and 1 article writer, all full-time employees. I pay them $250 per month each which comes to like $2 per hour.

The key is to conduct a thorough interview with them before you hire them. Let them know everything you expect, and also make sure they provide you with daily reports of all the work they did. That way you can tell whether they are slacking or not.

For example, I told the article writer I expect 8 articles per working day, which equates to about 1 per hour. If I'm constantly getting 4 articles per day, I know that she's not working the whole day because there's no way it takes 2 hours for 1 400-500 word article.

For the SEO guys, I ask for a daily report of all the work they did, and any live links that they have so I can go and verify them. I just give them my SE Nuke login info and let them use that so they get way more done in a day than if they did everything manually. I'm about to get 1 started with AMR too.

So try out OnlineJobs.ph and see if you have better luck. You will have to pay for a membership, but you can always cancel right after you find a few good employees, and the price is well worth it.

I've got an office in the philippines with 10 computer stations. We are only using 4 of the stations. I have people lined up and ready to work and can be trained by my staff. My main guys can build wordpress blogs, photoshop, customize themes, submit articles, submit press releases, and much more. He also has market samurai, magic submitter, article marketing robot and tons of other tools. My guy can supervise them and you will have constant access to them via skype philiipines time 8am to 6pm. No more than 250$ for 180 hours per month. If you wanna hire someone with less experience and are willing to do a lot of the training we could probably get that under 200$ a month. You will not be paying me, and I am not offering a service here. However, my main guy dandreb, I would just ask that you work something out with him for the time spent training and supervising. My guys work hard and are very reliable as they all work in one spot.

I would love to find a reliable full time article writer at $200-$250 a month. That is the main thing that slows me down right now. I use one of the writing services here right now but they are not available for full time work.

@balric I keep a list of good five*r writers on a private website. I am happy to give you access to it if you like. However, I ask that you not share the info with anyone else as I do not want them to get over booked. I also ask that you contribute and help keep the list updated. PM me and I'll get back to you.

Not all Filipino workers are lazy or bad. You just need to find the right one and you must take care of him/her for them to do their task perfectly. If you know how to handle your workers, they will surely do tasks at their best.

Two really cool and efficient graphic designers I know are from the Phillipines, but I haven't had too much experience in other fields, so I cannot speak broadly about them.

Please don't generalize the lazy thing to a nationality. All others are the same, don't say us Americans are not lazy, or some other nationality, there will always be a lazy guy, there will always be a good guy. Don't even based it on dating that's stupid, cause everyone have different characters. Just like hiring on fiverr some will deliver and some will fail. Probably we are just not that lucky to pick-up the right people to work with, that's about it, and we can't assume they are all the same. Peace!

I would pay them per project instead. That way you know what you are getting and at what price. Otherwise, yeah you get a lot of nuckleheads that take 2 day's to do 1hr of work! Other than that, if your using odesk and it becomes a problem where they are not corresponding for a week. Cancel the contract and find someone else.

There are people that want to work on odesk and any freelance site, and others that will waste your time. Come up with every possible excuse under the sun. Heck I had one that couldn't even remember the number of excuses he gave me that month.

Within the month: His uncle died twice, his computer crapped out, and the internet went down at least 2 times. And interestingly enough he's not working on any of our projects right now, and has since been replaced by someone that legitimately wants to do the work. In the time frames that have been specified.

there are good employees and bad employees, no matter where you go.

I would suggest the question you should be asking isn't "why are my employees not doing the work?" it should be whether or not your system keeps your workers accountable to the tasks they are hired for.

laziness crosses national boundaries. there are lazy americans, europeans, asians. no matter where you go there are people who will scam you. don't isolate the filipinos because the greed for money goes beyond mere nationality.

    My strategy:

I write in copywriting style a job posting that i use always as template.

    I use onlinejobs.ph for hiring and odesk.com for paying/tracking.

I write in the job posting that i want to hire people with a bachelor degree in something technical. And that they write me which degree they have. I just people that finished their university or people that are ambitious enough that they lie. Also i write that they need a microphone.

If they write you something like their microphone is not working right now => quit them.

I come from germany and there it´s normal that personal manager just are looking on the papers of somebody. I hate this attitute but for a monotone job like Linkbuilder it´s totally fine.

My workers are making paid testjobs or they are working 2-5 days on test. So for manual backlinking: Just give 10 people the same list with the same job and take 2 of them. Usually you loose one within one month. The other one is your golden horse!

I think the most important thing is your mindset: You don´t have to give them any Value if they don´t give Value to you.
It´s a cool thing if you care about your workers and be a friend and a boss for them but please AFTER a while of trust!

Filipinos are some of the coolest people I've dealt with, both in real life and online. I've found them to be friendly, respectful, honest and hardworking.

Theres bound to be rotten apples in any part of the world. Show me one country where there isn't and I'll move there yesterday.
