So a lot of people from my 40% ROI thread wondered what exactly I do with their money so I decided to share one of my campaigns with you. This one happens to be Peerfly + POF (Plenty of fish). It generated me on average $80 profit daily. I was spending around $20-$30/day on ads so I was getting 300-400% ROI.

OK, to start with you can go two ways. Either get good with one particular platform such as POF, FB, Direct CPV, Adbrite, Adwords, Clicksor, Infolinks, Linkbucks whatever and think of some offers that may convert via that platform or go through CPA offers and pick some that you think will convert and then think of ways to drive traffic to them. There is no secret formula. You just have to be willing to spend a lot of money trying various offers and split testing until you find a little golden nugget. Eventually you'll be able to tell whether an offer is likely to convert or not. It's very lucrative.

Anyhow, so I like going through CPA offers sorted by either network conversion rate or network EPC. Higher numbers usually mean somebody is converting and cashing from these offers. Exceptions are new offers that may contain gems but have not generated any network stats yet, offers that have unrealistically high EPC (For example $1.50 email submit with $1.50 EPC tells me that somebody simply tested a new offer. This EPC is impossible in the long run thus should be discounted) or offers that noobs might go for and screw up the network stats for everyone else. For example if you drop 100k interstitial on a perfectly good offer you will kill it's network performance.

One particular offer catches my eye. It's new Jewish dating offer for this site http://www.jewcier.com pays $4.50 per valid profile that has a pretty decent and stable EPC. Now, which platform should work for this one? POF. I knew for a fact dating offers converted incredibly well on POF and with their excellent targeting you could show your ads just to the Jewish singles. Excellent!

First things first you need to paste your POF conversion code into Peerfly offer tools/conversion pixel so that you could track the conversions.

I then went ahead and created 50 odd banner ads. The more the better. You should do some research and see what makes an effective banner. Experiment with colours. Use strong images. It's a dating offer so you need dating type of images of couples correct? NO! You never know what might catch people's attention. Try images of people making funny faces, try a picture of a fucking cactus a 5 year old painted on bright lime background, try symbols, objects, places, experiment with shapes, fonts etc.

Time to setup your campaign. Target wide and then narrow things down. I targeted Jewish peeps from US of all ages. I set my CPM high first and then experiment later. I set it at $0.83.

Now, a bit about CPM. When you set it high your ads appear first. This leads to higher CTR and CR as people tend to develop banner ad blindness over time and a ton of other things happen that I won't go into. You should always test with high CPM. This actually sucks a lot because your campaign sucks at that stage and it's under-optimized yet you will be throwing your money at it. Testing stage is where most of your money will best spent. Most of it will be wasted and you won't make a profit. But you will gather information needed for your campaign.

So anyhow, I let the campaign run over the cause of 2 days with around $200 daily spend limit. You will start seeing some banners converting better than others but you must give them all a chance before disabling them. Higher CTR banners don't always mean they will convert better than lower CTR banners. Make sure every banner generates at least 5-10k impressions. Once I found a banner that converted I've made an additional 20 or so variations to try. Want to see my overall winner? Here:

I then went ahead and clicked on conversion reports in my POF panel. Surprise surprise, 80% of all conversions came from ages 50-59. I narrowed down my campaign to target just those ages.

Now, it's time to play around with more targeting. I went ahead and copied this campaign a number of times. I tried various CPM rates, number of ads clicked (Yes, POF allows you to show your ads only to people who clicked a certain amount of ads previously. This can work a treat sometimes.) as well as various other targeting options.

Here is my final result. The banner I posted above targeting Jewish singles from US looking for relationship ages 50-59 at a CPM rate of $0.83 generated me around $80 daily profit for almost a month until last week. I think I raped that offer. Feel free to copy my campaign but I doubt you will make much profit.

    Other points:

    1) If you find a good offer go to offervault.com and search for it to see if you can find a better rate.
    2) POF has a bidding algo. It's recommended to increase your bids slowly in $0.05 increments. Also the reason why I bid $0.83 is because $0.80 is maximum recommended bid. This is what most people will chose. Other affiliates who know this bid 1 penny over. The difference between $0.80 and $0.81 per 1000 impressions is none existent but you will see way more traffic. I bid $0.83 to go over the over marketers. So I tend to bid $0.13, $0.43, $0.83, $1.03 and so on. Just experiment and see for yourself.
    3) Offers have good and bad days. Media campaigns can often take time to mature. It's recommended that you test Monday to Sunday. The downside is that you will spank away a lot of money doing that. On the other hand if you do $10 bucks in 30 minutes you might as well throw your money away. Either be prepared to do a proper test and potentially lose a lot of money or don't test at all. $10 is not enough.
    4) Gather as much data as possible. Have separate sub IDs for different banners.
    5) Something else I've forgotten :D

    Impressive!
Although this kind of method can be risky, you actually took the risk and made a good amount of money.

This is the proper way to run a PPC campaign. Well done OP. For those that want to scale earnings fast and furious, paid traffic is the way to go, and this is exactly how to do it.

No "easy" button here, but the payouts speak for themselves and once you've got a proven campaign it can last for months or longer (depending on the available offer and the platform you are targeting).

Great work OP. +Rep for laying out how it's really done with PPC. Have not seen a really clear outline of proper PPC strategy since Redtide1969's posts.

I have started using POF advertising few wees ago, and this is exactly what i wanted to see here. I'm seeing some result but those result are still with negative ROI :)

Tell me do you use targeting such as marital status, intent, login count, session dept "while testing"? Or can you tell us your insights on those targeting options and how to use them wisely?

Thanks and please keep us updated

So are you tracking like a mofo here, as in cpvlabs or p202?
    No LP, just direct linking?
never used POF, but is POF actually sharing everything about the demographic data that is converting for you? i had no idea, that a traffic source would do that! I've been following old school advice from PPCF folks, to never upload your traffic source conversion pixel to your cpa network, cuz thats just telling Markus Frind whats converting on his site.
The way i see marketers do that, is copy paste campaigns and use every freaking tracking var that prosper202 allows i.e. c1-c4.

Martial status - Only when I was running an offer for widows.
Don't target intent, login count nor session depth. I did however find something funny. If you are promoting weight loss products most people target overweight body types. Not many people target "prefer not to say". To me that sounds like something only overweight people might put who are ashamed of being overweight so I targeted just that and it worked out better and cheaper.

No, the offer was simply approaching the end of it's life cycle. Some offers last months, others can be over within a week. Usually the more narrow your targeting is the quicker your campaign will die out. There are only this many skinny Asian males in their late 40s living in London with pets and children who don't drive a car and have income over 70K you can show your ads to.

Direct linking. Inhouse tracking with POF and Peerfly to keep it simple. POF passes sex, age and location via url tokens and has its own conversion tracking for narrower targeting. Honestly, I don't really give a crap if a network copies me. I doubt they do but if they did I could not care less. POF advertisers go through popular ads and copy them anyway. At least your network won't have your banners. Besides, with small, quick campaigns like this I'm unaffected. If I was running something long term I would take precautions.

By the way guys, this is not PPC. This is CPM. I suppose you can apply this to PPC too but it's a bit different.

He does not have a big enough data sample to compare clicks and conversions.

    3 clicks = 1 conversion
    8 clicks = 1 conversion
    7 clicks = 2 conversions

Statistically speaking it's all the same. I would love to see his CR per 1000 or at least 100 clicks.

Maybe he had a low volume of clicks but once i get 10k impressions, I find that enough. If I cannot achieve a 1% or 2% CTR then its time to cap the experiment.

I usually follow Riley Poole, Justine Dupre, Mr Green and a few other sources.

    is the secret technique
Login count, Session Depth, Ads clicked ?

1 question, you send traffic directly to offer or via a landing page ? Thanks
