    Hello All -

I've been an avid reader of BHW for sometime now, and am definitely an IRC chatter on the BHW Server, as well as the new Vent Server. I'm currently going to log my journey with IM here.

    Background:
I magically stumbled upon BHW around 8-9 months ago and have been addicted since then. And in that 8-9 months my own business and life have become 10x more difficult, and quite depressing. But since I've been in sales for a LONG time, I'm determined to keep picking myself up and never giving up.

I'm determined to work on IM in every waking moment that I possibly have so that I can get out of this funk, as well as prove that it's possible to myself. I've read many journals, and even have been guided by some VERY good people on BHW here. I can say that I have a very strong set of skills in:

    - Computer service / support
    - Design (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
    - Can understand, utilize, and program PHP, Javascript, CSS, etc.

I'm currently going to be going back to college this fall after a 5 year leave, to pursue Computer Science, so I hope that I'll be able to also develop some awesome software to share with you all.

I've equipped myself with a DSL line and can change the IP Address at whim and as often as necessary. I've purchased 1k gmail accounts, and have been tracking my success rate with CL postings while getting things moving. So here's a simple breakdown:

    Domains Purchased: $35
    Hosting Services: $15
Programs: $85 (webmail extractor. thx Hexalor for a great prog.!)
    (bhcb - another great program)

It took me about a week to resolve the issues with my domain provider for successfully setting up Interspire, and about another week or so to understand what the Affiliates were looking for to get signed up with them as well. In fact, I've gotten so good at talking to the Aff.'s that I wouldn't even waste any time after submitting my app, i'd just contact them directly on the phone, and have yet to be rejected now.

I've spent around a week creating different landing pages and what not, and making things look like a "pro" web site. So far, I've gotten roughly 1k email addys and did a small campaign of around 50 emails, 30 clicked the offer and 1 conversion has happened @ $1.40. I'm currently sending out my campaign to the rest of the recipients and have my fingers crossed. The ad went into my inbox no problems, but hopefully this will happen to everyone else too.

    ETD: $1.40

My goal is to push around 25 CL ads per day. I track my ads conversion rates, and briefly scan the responses for what I think gives them the best ROI. Some have worked awesome, some have failed terribly. So far my best ad has netted over 100 responses in under 1 hour. My goal is to be able to obtain at least 1000 unique emails every 3 days for the time being. I almost never have a post ghosted, but have had them flagged...my true goal would be 50 posts a day, but it all depends on time.

My current strategies are going to be email/zip submits, and higher payout sign ups that are related.

Beyond this, I should hopefully have a few web design contracts underway to bring in some cash in the mean time, while I get the kinks worked out of my strategies.

If I can give anyone some advice, buy a drawing book, and carry it around with you, so that when you get a great idea of doing something, you can sketch it out and fine tune it until you can assemble your idea on your computer.

If I can make this work with what I'm dealing with, so can anyone else.

    Seuss

Great post - i wish you every success in making some money. You're lucky being able to unplug your DSL and get a new IP whenever you want! :p Perfect for craigslist. Don't underestimate BHCB, offer to give people something they want and watch the money roll in ;)

I don't even have to unplug kimkils :) Just change the mac, and within 5 seconds I got a new fresh IP. I'm going to make a cron job php file that will automatically change the ip say every 4-5 minutes for me when I choose to activate it. That way I'll have enough time to post the ad, submit it, and activate it before I get a new IP. Knowledge is power my friend.

Ahhh ive heard of people doing this. I have a static IP, does that mean it is simply bound by my mac? So if i change that it will give me a new one?

What if you set it to another existing mac ... does the internet explode?

Static IP is exactly that, Static. You need a dynamic IP...

if you change ur mac, i don't think anything will happen, other than maybe ur mac is registered to that ip with your isp, change it and find out, if it doesn't work, just switch it back.

Well, it all depends, not sure if CL checks for a particular region or not, but you should be able to post...

just check and see if u can change your ip..

    UPDATE
Made only $2.80 today thus far.. :/

    ETD: $4.20

Looking to change a few things around tomorrow to try and get that up to $10.... :)

Today I only had time to place 10 ads, tomorrow, I plan on doing 50 though. About 50% of the ads got flagged this time around. Time to go and revise some of them so they stick better. On a typical posting day, I get only 10% flagged. They possibly changed something at CL.

Earning 100$ a day is not really what I would call epic. But anyway you're trying so kudos for you. Also when using DSL be careful that providers sometimes roted the IPs so after a while you'll be using the same IPs over and over again.
