    Hi there,

I'll just give the quick version, I had a domain that's been in number 1 position for almost a year for two types of keywords, stupid me thought I registered it for 2 years, but it was only registered for 1 year.

I got back from over seas only to find out it expired and I had to renew it, I didn't lose the domain name due to grace period, but it was automatically parked by the domain registrar...now it was over a week that the renewal date passed, and therefore the sitemap dropped out of google rankings, as I just went into my webmaster tools and saw that none of my pages were indexed into G..

I have since done everything to renew, resubmit the sitemap back into G etc.

Now my question is, will it go back to it's original position at number 1? as the back links are all still there, or will I have to work again to get it back up to number 1 position from scratch? please advise, I'm desperate... :(

You won't have to work from scratch, but you might need to remind Google how much it loved your site. Send it a few links to get it indexed and see where it lands.

Yes but that's what scares me, "see where it lands"? will it eventually climb back up to number 1 because of all the original backlinks that got it there in the first place still exist? or I will need to do a few more backlinks myself? arghh this is so frustrating, just for one little mistake forgetting to renew my domain has cost me dearly!!!

Your site should eventually get back to no.1 spot once reindexed and Google goes through recalculating your serps position. Could take a week or cold take a month but as the other person said, just add some more high quality links to remind Google about your site and should be back in no time. Dont get frustrated and take it as another lesson learned in business and do not see this as just a 'little' mistake as imo it was actually quite a big one.

Ok cool, will do, thanks for that... yeah it was a big mistake, thing is I totally thought I bought the domain for 2 years so I thought I had until Dec 2012 to renew it, as I normally do buy domains for 2 years, I dunno why I only bought this one for only 1...Anyway that's what happened... cheers again..

Yes, if you resume doing the things you did to get the name to where it was originally, you can and will definitely regain most or all of your standing in goog's eyes. It will take a bit of time, just as deindexing and such took a bit of time for them. My thought is don't overcompensate by trying to un-naturally force or speed up that process. Just go back to what you were doing with it, as said get some high quality backlinks but at an organic rate and such, and you should be golden.

I agree with him. It will take some time for re-indexing as well as letting google push you up provided you build more backlinks with high PR as compared to your competitors.
