My comments are being ghosted on Youtube since November, basically since the introduction of the new comment layout.

I have created brand new accounts with proxies, and the first comment from them itself is ghosted!

Please note - Only replies are ghosted, not the regular, discrete comments.

I am not an advertiser, spammer, promoter etc. I have never, ever spammed or even posted any link! I am a regular household user, with the sole intention of posting comments for discussion.

I have checked to see if the ghosted replies show up in spam of the original commenter's notifications. They do not. They simply vanish.

I have tried through 6 different accounts, the ones that I use, and all of them have been ghosted at one point or another.

On a new day, the first reply is always visible, but the moment I reply once again, it is ghosted.

    What on earth is this?

Please help me out here. In case you want more details, please ask me, I'll provide them. I have used Youtube since forever, and would hate to have to completely and permanently forsake it because of ghosting.

I am not lying pal. I am a regular user, not once have I posted any commercial comment, ever. In fact, I have absolutely no idea about this advertisement aspect. Why do you assume otherwise? There are millions, literally millions of regular non-commercial users posting right now on Youtube. Why is it inconceivable to think that some of them might be genuinely getting ghosted, even when they have not spammed? And if one such user has posted here, it isn't so hard to believe now, is it?

Trust me, I am a regular user. Do you happen to have some idea as to why is this happening? Please note - not every reply is ghosted. The day I wake up, on a new day, the first reply I post, is always visible. Nothing happens. However, the second and then the third reply and so on, are always ghosted.

This is what I do not understand. If indeed, it was because of my account, wouldn't every comment be ghosted? Also, at times, the second and third, and many other replies as well are not ghosted, but then suddenly, on other videos, it starts happening out of nowhere, it seems.

What do you think is going on?

    Probably an update in YouTube.

Well, like I mentioned, this has been happening since November. One would think that if it was indeed an update only, it would have been sorted out in say, a week or 2 weeks, at best. Even if we stretch it to a month, it would have been understandable. But it has been 6 months now! 6 months, I believe is sufficient to rule out the possibility of an update. This might be something else.

Note that - Since I did a little examination myself, I found out a few odd things -

    1) The moment a reply is pasted, it has a google url. But, just a few seconds later, the url changes to a Youtube url.

    2) The url of all the replies is the same.

3 ) The comment is much more likely to be ghosted when the user replies to the other user using the +Name reply option. Without the +Name, it is still ghosted, but less frequently

    4) If a user has posted a comment, and someone replied to it, and then you join the conversation adding the first user's, that replied to the OP, name, the possibility of your comment being ghosted is almost 100% (In my case, that is)

It seems to me that, once a user posts a reply, the reply first goes to Google+, and then is transformed into a youtube comment. It is here, in this transformation process, that the comment vanishes, gets ghosted, I reckon.

I shall not express in words, for obvious reasons, the sheer frustration that I have regarding Youtube right now. I just hope someone out there has some clue regarding what should be done.

Yeah I can vouch for his complaint probably being legit. My personal account has most of it's comments ghosted ever since November and I'm not spamming either. I use it to engage in a lot of political debates but that's all. Ironically my business accounts aren't ghosted in their comments, just the personal one, maybe I'm such a badass debater.

Fancy that buddy. I am sure you know what I am going through. Although I do not have separate personal and business accounts, and each one of them is personal, and is and has always been used for debates, arguments, discussions only, I still have been facing this mind-boggling issue since months. I am really close to abandoning Youtube permanently.

It has been a while, and I have not yet received any suggestion. Isn't there anyone with some idea as to what might be going on? Something that you might have tried yourself? Anything?

I just started trying to figure this problem out today. I have about 200 aged youtube accounts that I've mostly used for private messaging over the years. When I try commenting with them now, most of them get ghosted... but every so often I'll find a rare account that can post without being ghosted, and they work on my VPN ip's as well, which means I can rule out having a "flagged ip" as the problem.

I was thinking it might be like facebook comments, and you need to have a few friends on your profile to prevent ghosting. So, I took one of the YT accounts that wasn't working and got a bunch of followers in my circle google+ and tried posting after that, but it was still being ghosted. So, I think, I can rule the the lack of "Friends" on my google+ profile being the issue.

I'm going to continue trying to figure out what youtubes checks and balances are for posting.

Does anyone know if there's a good thread on BHW with regards to comment voting w/ the new youtube comment system? I'd love to read that, if it exists.

I found out another peculiar thing today. Whenever I create a new account and try to reply to a comment, it is always ghosted. When you create a brand new account, try to reply to any comment. It is likely that it will be ghosted. It seems to me that the brand new accounts are being created with negative reputation and that they have to prove first, through multiple non-spam comments, that they are non-spam accounts for the account to be finally be able to post replies.

Not absolutely certain, but could be.

I have also done what you mentioned, like having friends, subscribers etc and then posting, but had the same result. They were ghosted at one point or another.

Did I mention that the 2 "high-reputation" accounts (the ones whose comments end up at the top) that I have, have also been ghosted?

I am done trying to figure this s___ out. I wish you and others good luck regarding this. I will be ditching youtube shortly now. It looks like there is no other option.

    Good day.

Op you have to take care of only 2 points

Use high quality proxies to login in to each account for commenting
    And
Add relevant 2-3 lines comments instead of just few words

Follow these two points and you feel the difference

    Thanks
