Some weird stuff is happening. I just did a ton of stuff to improve my client's local ranking over the past couple of months including building a ton of citations, fixing old citations, getting reviews, optimizing website, deleting duplicate pages, etc. I've been tracking his rankings and he has improved drastically.

He was #8 for about a month - just 1 away from the 7 pack. Then I deleted a duplicate Google+ listing with the same address and different name. A couple of weeks after I did that, Serpbook showed his rank improve to #2 for that same keyword. However when I check manually, he is still not showing up in the 7 pack. He still shows as #8 when I click on "more results" in Mozilla, Chrome, and Internet Explorer. However if I do the search on Safari, he's still not on the 7 pack, but when I click on "Local business results" at the top he is #1 (A). What gives? Is this a good sign and mean he will eventually move in the 7 pack for Mozilla, Chrome, and Internet Explorer? Why are the results different for different browsers anyway? That is weird.

Is the local business results an Apple related search? If so, it could be showing a preference for those who did Apple Maps and the citations Apple prefers over the Google results.

I saw someone on here just the other day who was complaining about serpbook results for local.

I'm not sure why you're seeing diff results for diff browsers - is it the cache?

Local business results, aka maps (or maps.google.com) is going to show you the "pure" local results. That is, results unaffected by any other algo than the local one. No organic influence. So it is common that your rank will be different there, than in the regular SERPs.

As for Serpbook, and any other trackers claiming to rank track local, they or OKAY at very best. I wouldn't put too much stock in them ever being accurate.

I didn't see you mention that you are doing much to cater to the organic algo. I might turn your focus now there, as it sounds like you got local on lock.

    Good luck : )
