Good luck with your journey Stockman! Just don't make the mistake most people make and get stuck in the planning stage. Business plan is good, but mission statement can wait IMO. You can do that administrative work once you get a feel for what your mission should be based on your company culture that starts to be established. When its just you all that matters is whats in your head, not formalities on paper. Congrats taking some action!

Just because it's an offline food truck venture doesn't mean he can't use the internet. There are plenty of food trucks that utilize twitter and facebook to update customers on their locations. Best of luck to the OP!

For locations you should also look into gas station parking lots or places like that which are very high traffic. People are on the go and always hungry!
To do this you would just need to work out some sort of deal with the gas station/business owner. They are usually most receptive to profit share deals (10%-15%)

Best of luck to you buddy!

I disagree, the op has opportunities to market to these people in addition to selling them good food via things like selling advertising space on his foodcart, advertising on his packaging, postcards/leaflets with event specific cpa or pay per call offers on his cart for people to take or look at while they are waiting on there food or placing one in the customers bag with there food , proximity marketing with bluetooth etc all offers specific to the event niche.

For example, Hes at a car show with 50,000 people he could have a pay per call car insurance offer on his food packaging etc.

Good luck stockman, if my family circumstances were diffrent i would be in warmer climates some where with a cart selling hotdogs and ice cream along the beach.

Update: I pitched my idea. In 2 weeks, I find out if I'm getting $5k loan. I made a couple hundred from a friend. I'm using it towards equipment.

Food truck is great, but what I'm trying to go for is the "novel" experience. There's so many food trucks selling organic burgers, tri-tip sandwiches, juices...

I'll be cooking in front of the people. I want them to see the whole process. I want to entertain while I serve them food. It's about the whole experience... and then the food. One of my goal is to bring something valuable to the community... not just another food stand where people can easily copy. It's something like a persona?

I'll update some more information as they become available.

Should be a great journey. Remember to mix in social media promotion to let potential customers know where your heading next then after each event do a blog write up and thank people.

I cooked samples and allowed a dozen friends to try it. I have mix friends with varied palates. More than half of them enjoyed the food. It's a big hit!

Time to let a couple dozen more people try it before I invest in the commercial equipments. If I get over 75% of them to give me a constructive yes, then I'm set on the equipments which I'm still waiting in less than 2 weeks to find out if I get that $5k investment.

I know of a couple of great resources for starting your own food cart business. I have 1 friend that runs his own and does YouTube videos about business in general at https://www.youtube.com/user/mohammedabshaun

And I'm surprised no one has mentioned my second one. Pat Flynn's new niche site is a great resource for food cart/ truck owners at http://foodtruckr.com . He is a great guy and I've learnt a lot about business from him.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you man. Good luck with your business. Live your dream.
