Hi, I am really new in SEO and will need help and advice.
I have a blog in blogspot which is about scale modeling as I am a scale modeler. When I started my blog My intention was to make sharing my work easier for myself. Instead of writing on same topic and uploading same pictures in different forums I decided to make blog articles and post links with a "Title" picture in the forums. For example: I am not allowed to post links... sorry
Recently (about an year ago) I realized that there might be potential in blogging so I started discovering stuff. I never knew SEO existed until mid 2015 so apparently I have made some mistakes with my blog from the beginning, like the domain name.. Instead of metodimetodiev it should have been something with my target keywords (scale model/scale models).
I tried to do onsite aswell as offsite SEO and so now I have more than 100 backlinks but still my blog doesn't rank.

Having in mind that now I have some SEO knowledge, please give me your advice.
Also I have some specific questions
    1. I am aware that my niche is small... but is it so small that it is not worthed?
    2. Will buying domain with better name and redirecting my blog to it will do any good?
    3. As my blog is Picture dependent do I need more words?
    4. Is my blog screwed up SEO wise?

Thanks for your help in advance!
    Best regards
    Metodi

Hi Metodi - First, your blogspot subdomain name sounds great. Brandable beats EMDs on the long run.

    As for your questions:
    1. Not sure, I am sure you can write an ebook about it and convert people/make some money, also you can sell them kits and such, maybe build a forum down the road
    2. It could, but even with that domain I'd get something brandable, if you love the subject I think you'll want to set things up for the long haul
    3. Yes, ideally you need more content to rank. Maybe some guides and such?
    4. No it's not, unless you've built a ton of spammy links from pages that also link to viagra sites

    1. I am aware that my niche is small... but is it so small that it is not worthed?
if you're on adsense and no one is bidding those keywords, you're screwed

    2. Will buying domain with better name and redirecting my blog to it will do any good?
-- nope, domain is just a small percentage of the ranking factor

    3. As my blog is Picture dependent do I need more words?
    -- yes

    4. Is my blog screwed up SEO wise?
    -- not sure

First of all I want to say welcome to the website! Second, I want to say that you can 100% turn this around, so you know, good news.

You are actually a part of an extremely popular niche but your website is not optimized for it. All of your organic keywords are the names of specific vehicles which only a handful of people are searching for each month. You need to optimize your site for keywords related to hobbyists and scale models and scale modeling as a hobby. Spend some time with Google Keyword Planner and enter keywords related to the hobby and you will see that thousands upon thousands of people are searching for these things each month.

I mean look at the scalehobbyist website. They are not even in the top position and they are getting more than 5k visitors a month and they don't seem to have a lot of backlinks. It's all organic traffic because their website is built properly. Look at the way their website and similar websites are laid out and organized. Don't just have a category called ships. Call it Scale Model Ships or insert some other keyword. When the visitor gets to that link there should first be the title of the page then a short paragraph or two talking about scale mode ships in general. Talk about why you like making scale model ships or what are the unique qualities of scale model ships that separates them from other types of scale models. Maybe address whether than can actually touch water or not. Maybe there is a special coating you need to protect scale model ships. After your description of the category then have links to specific article and optimize those articles and titles as well. The title of the blog post should be the same as the title on the page. Again add more writing to those pages.

After you do some keyword research buy a domain name and redirect your blogspot blog to it or build a new website but keep the blogspot to direct traffic to the new site. The domain name is not a huge factor but when I google your name by itself I just find doctors. When I google it along with the words scale models I find you but your name is a difficult one so no one is really going to be looking for you by that name I don't think. Unless you are that doctor and you do scale modeling on the side lol.

You seem to like taking photos and you are good at it. Use forums, pinterest, tumblr, facebook twitter, reddit and whatever else to send out tease photos of your completed builds. If someone wants to know how to build that then they should visit your website.

Write articles about the tools you use to build scale models. Tell me where to buy them or how to make them. Tell me how to make sure my models last long enough for my grandkids to see them. Tell me the best ways to put them on display. You are really good at building these models, man. Become one of the authority guys on some of those scale modeling forums you've been talking about. Have a link with your keywords in your forum signatures and fill out your forum profile pages talking about stuff with links to internal pages on your site.

You could also offer to write reviews for products in exchange for links or do guest posts.

First of all, thank you very much for your in-depth analysis.

I just checked them with keyword spy, it seems that they have had daily ad budget of up to 117$, currently 59$. Guess that makes a lot of impact... but I may contact them to see if they would like to advertise on my blog

I am not sure I know how to do that. I have my page title set in the blogspot settings. Usually I use H2 tags for my blog post titles because SEO checkers are not happy with multiple H1 tags.

    That's on my list

Yes, I am a PhD but cannot rank on 1st page yet :D

I do have pinterest, G+ and twitter accounts and also I use my personal facebook account to share my work with special interest groups.
What I do is I make a "cover" on PS, then use it to invite people to visit my blog.
I also write in multiple forums, not only showing my work but also commenting on other users topics. I have signature which is link to my blog and invites there (pity i cannot post link here to give an example), what bugs me here is that all forums have nofollow on such links which means no link juice i guess.
Another thing is that I cant see my twitter, pinterest and facebook accounts connected with my blog... I see the G+ one. How should I do that?

I think about making YouTube channel for reviews, tutorials and maybe time-lapse builds and embed them on the blog.

Once again thanks for the time and effort you spent to help me!
    Best regards
    Metodi

Add proper keyword related content together with your images and then get good quality backlinks. It may just be better for you to get a domain name registered and rank that instead of a blogspot.
