    Hi BHW,

So I have nearly finished my watchBIGBLOCKBUSTERonline minisite.

Got a nice domain name, a bit of keyword rich content and a short video embedded which is the opening sequence of warner bro's - it then goes to a video loading gif. I plan to then monetise with a CPA for signing up to a download site or a content unlocker or something. Its all pretty underhand and blackhat.

Anyway I registered the domain name with altushost so that's ok. However I am hosting it with dreamhost at the moment with all my other sites.

Do sites like this get taken down a lot? Should I get anonymous hosting?
What happends if it gets taken down? Does the studio just send a letter to dreamhost and they take down the site? Will dreamhost shut down all my other (non black hat ) sites too? The movie wont actually be on the site just a short intro clip and fanfare etc,,,,....

Regarding monetisation do any cpa networks etc accept this kind of traffic?

    Any suggestions really appreciated!

    Thanks and Reps await!

    Cheers

    weBay

Website that target only one movie .. rarely get taken down. I used to follow the same approach earlier as well, you do see profits in your cpa account but that only last 15 days to 2 months at max. ( depends on the movie )

As for the CPA networks, Leadbolt accepts this traffic and they also convert much better as compared to adscend and cpa.lead

I haven't used DreamHost though but I think it will be fine. They shouldn't have a problem with the website at all.

I've been hosting my TV/movie sites w/ justhost and never had a problem... I don't think dreamhost will have a problem either.

Just seen in the news some English University student is getting extradited to the USA to stand trial over his movie streaming website...

Think its time to get anonymous offshore hosting (any recommends) or are you guys not worried??

Unless you are 100% anonymous and you can Not be, you are running very risky site.

Believe me its too much headache keeping the sites hosting, domain not to mention monetizing.

If you just run some ads or CPA you may be considered small fish but trust me I know ppl who got in lot of trouble including law suits that made them loose their freaking pants. And I am not talking dumb people, people who tought they had it all figured out with fake payment processors, offshore hosting and domains, proxies etc. If you piss off the wrong company they will find you.

I do not recommend anyone this type anymore, but that's just my 2 cents. You still can get away with it but trust me it can be more trouble than you want.

    good luck

Appreciate your input. My sites are not actually showing any real movie , just the intro to what looks like the movie then the content locker pops up to try to get them to sign up for a movie streaming site.

Would this still attract the same problems?

I am making nice money with this method but I really dont want to get legal issues.

To be honest I don't thing you are making anywhere the money I was referring to, nor would they really have a big case against you but technically they can go after you even if you are not actually streaming the content. If you use trademarked or copyrighted items such as names, logos, images etc and offer access for them in exchange for something, such as money.
Its not just copyright/trademark infringement but also "unjust enrichment".

I know a guy got sued by large cable provider for $150 000 (maximum per civil incident on copyright infringement) but got away with a warning, basically had to sign paper never to do it again. He was in NY and suit was filed in California. (He made over $350K, but I guess they did not find all that out). Than I know another guy that got sued for $150K and ended up loosing and is still paying the shit of, even he did not made anywhere close to $150K but he pissed the lawyers and judge off and they decided he "intentionally" infringed on the copyrighted content. That shit went to Federal court by the way. And if you end up on federal court you are labeled for life unless you win/ get the case dismissed and file counter suit for frivolous lawsuit and win that. But good luck with that.

Another guy I knew was making shit load of money and I mean shitload of money like in $12K/day for months and months and got sued, shrugged his shoulder and said fuck off. They never got a penny out of him but mostly because he is in Sweden and they in California.

All that is just civil - You do not want to hear about criminal. Or if you do just read the FBI warnings before you play some DVD movie or do a quick Google search for the sites in the east cost (I think NY) that went down and are facing really shitty criminal charges for streaming the super bowl, I correct myself - "intended" as they went down couple days before the Superbowl.

On the same note I have to say I have not heard of a case where anyone went after sites making money of CPA or ads but they went after sites that actually had payment processors in place.

I do not want to be "Spielverderber" but just give you an opinion from someone who can say "been there - done that - never again".

Chances are much bigger you will be fine and you might first start getting stupid DMCA notices before any legal action is taken and especially if you outside USA your chances increase but ultimate decision is up to you. If you keep it, make sure to put some money on the side cuz paying a lawyer $400/hour is not fun.

    good luck

Thanks for such a detailed and interesting answer. Rep given. I'm playing this much safer now. Transferring my sites to offshore hosting and probably not carrying on with this much longer.

    Some scary stories there.
