idk where you reside, but if they don't want to cash-out then go to another bank, it's simple as that

banks in my country (Hungary) put a (virtual) hold on your money for a few days/week until they make sure that the cheque is covered (however you can spend it right away, but if it turns out, it's not a valid cheque, you have to pay the amount back to the bank) especially if someone brings a cheque that they've never seen before, but that's all, you don't need to prove them anything...

other than that, you can print the page where the bank can see, you earned that amount, so where amazon has approved your earnings and you can print the email as well, what you got from amazon stating that you earned that amount, if there's any...idk, i'm not an amazon affiliate

or contact the support of amazon and ask them what you can do in this situation

Well, that is not the only case!

If the amount is so huge, it all matters to the income tax, and hence the bank would need a source proof for the orgination of money on the cheque!!

You should simply print them your Amazon invoices , some of those of big amounts!

I'd just tell them you're an affiliate marketer. When they don't know what that is, explain it as a "commissioned salesman, only over the internet instead of face-to-face," and they'll get a decent idea of what you do.

The main thing to remember is to use words they're already familiar with, like "sales," "ads," and "commission." If they ask for details, the real question will probably be something basic like how that works. Say "I put up an ad and if they go through my link I get a commission" and that's probably all they'll care to know.

Just make sure you don't act as though you're doing anything shady!

    *remembers what site I'm on*

If you ARE doing something dodgy, put up a regular-looking affiliate site page, so if they ask to see it you have something to show them. Remember, they'll never know if the page gets any hits - they're bankers, not AMs - so you won't have to go to any great lengths on this. So if you're actually making bank by putting up a million phony ads on Craigslist, you might want to put up that cover site just so they don't hassle you.

agree, with above poster, go to another bank, and make a point of telling your bank manager to go **** himself

banks only ask were money comes from if it is cash. If it is in cheque form they already know it comes from amazon, and thats all the bank, and the tax man need to know,

do not tell the bank how u make your money, its **** all to do with them,

apologies for bad language but i feel it makes my feelings clear on this matter. I had a similar experience with an affiliate cheque, turned out the cashier was being downright nosey

most cheques are valid for 6 months to 1 year from when they were sent, depending on where you are

if you're in the US it's normal to expect a 5 business day wait to have the cheque cashed, internationally up to 25 business days.

If you're expecting to walk into a bank these days and get cash from a cheque from a different bank, it's unlikely - banks usually just allow a certain daily "clearing level" based on trust.

If you go to a new bank, it's likely you won't have any more "trust" built, and likely be in the same situation.

show them the printout of the financial summary from the period of when the cheque was issued, as well as a printout of your advertiser agreement from amazon. Tell them you'll be receiving these cheques regularly and don't want to have to bring in all this information each time.

That is weird, i'd think the finances would be the ones to ask that question (and maybe they did ask the bank for it :p), still just show them the invoice like you should, and while you are at it ask them why they asked for this information.

Why does it take so long for a check. Seriously it takes the affiliates long enough to pay you. Now the banks are making it even harder. They should be glad you giving them money.

it takes so long for a cheque, because the bank you use has to send it to the bank the issuer of the cheque uses so that information can be validated

if your bank releases the money to you, and the issuing bank says the cheque is not valid (ie with account numbers, etc.), then your bank is completely SOL

they build the system to slow things down so that things like this are less likely to happen.

most banks are like this, I'd be surprised to see a bank where you can walk in as a new customer and they'll start cashing cheques that day.

if you want quick payment, set up direct deposit.

I'd say affiliate marketing and tell them if you keep holding my checks like that you will switch to another back because it is an big inconvenience.
