    Hi Everyone!

I have been building backlinks to my website for a few weeks now and checked the links with backlinkwatch.com/ and other services and it says i only have 140 backlinks? I have been building 1,000's of links and they are getting indexed so i have no idea why they are not showing :(

Any advise i would really appreciate it!

    Thanks :)

    1. Backlinkwatch it's not an accurate backlink checker, instead use the free version of majesticseo.com or any similar paid tool such as opensiteexplorer.org from SEOmoz to check the links from any website you want. In case you want to check the backlinks of a website you OWN, them simply use Google Webmaster Tools, is by far the most accurate, and of course 100% free.

    2. It takes time for backlinks to be indexed by search engines, usually from 1-4 weeks

    3. A high percentage of low-quality backlinks (such as forum profiles, spammy blog comments) are not being crawled/indexed by search engines by themselves, in order to get a higher crawled percentage you should ping your backlinks with an Linklicious or Lindexed account.

These tools are updating smth like once 1-2 months . I've been building backlinks to my site for a couple of months now and slow and steady they are starting to appear in Market Samurai.

The exact number depends on the tool's index and you can't control what it shows. You won't ever get all the backlinks you've built to show up in a certain backlink analysis tool. It'll only be a small percentage, even after 2-3 months of waiting.

Just use SERPs as your metric to go by and not backlinks.

    Thanks for the advise!
I have checked with majesticseo.com but my results are still really bad :( I know i have build 1,000's of links with articles, blog comments, forum profiles, bookmarks etc.. but none are showing? the domain i am trying is 1 year old and have built links from the beggining.

i also use lindexed and have done for about 1 month and add 100-400 links every day so i am really confused?

    Thanks for the advice guys!

Stuff like forum profiles, blog comments, bookmarks rarely show up in most link indexing tools. The one I've found gives you the best data (in terms of range) is ahrefs. Majestic is also pretty good though.

However, as I said, you should simply use your SERPs as the most important metric. Contextual links inside articles will show up (a good percentage, not all) but forum profiles, bookmarks, etc won't (not a major percentage anyways). :)

Have you tried searching with and without all the usual variables, such as with and without the http at the start, with and without the www etc

Not sure if it will make any difference but might be worth trying.

Make sure that you backlinks get indexed first.. Personally I use linklicious and it helps a lot.
