Hi, i am using the 1 year free amazon vps plan. I install Windows 2012 r2, and I am running just only firefox with addmefast and my vps becomes very slow, do you recommend me to install another version of Windows (2003 or 2008)? Or should i have to make some tweaks to my vps. Many thanks

I recommend you use Ubuntu instead of Windows. The t.02 micro instances have enough resources to run a Windows installation and that's it.

I don't know much about Windows. I'm making an assumption when I say you'd need to upgrade to a larger server and pay for it to use Windows.

With 768MB RAM I would suggest you use Windows Server 2003 or 2008 instead. Windows Server 2012 can only run smoothly with 1GB RAM or higher.

The free AWS EC2 micro instance can't really handle Windows Server 2012 R2. You can try to improve performance by disabling services and what not, but in all likelihood, you'll have to switch to a different operating system or use a more powerful paid EC2 instance.

Not really related to the question ... but ... can you send me a link to the free one year hosting offer? I may have a client that would be interested in it.

See http://aws.amazon.com/free/, but keep in mind that you'll still need to provide billing information.
