My Amazon Niche Site Journey

Hi,

This is my Amazon Niche site journey to keep me focused also to keep track of my progress and take some ownership. I have seen a lot of these threads that have motivated me especially Hekke's journey (thanks for an awesome journey thread and the ideas / techniques that you are sharing in there). I am also following Nick Flame's method here http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...ffiliate-niche-sites-insanely-profitable.html as a guide (thank you Nick for the useful guide) any other recommended reading that you guys think is worth it please let me know (I would be very greatful) but I think the best way is to start and make mistakes as I have been reading and not taking action for so long!

So the plan:

Keyword research
Find an expired domain with some decent metrics (looking for TR,CF,DA,PA all 15+) which needs to be relevant or brandable to the niche.
Content creation: I am going for long pillar articles with reviews and quality information with lots of words 2000+ (going to aim for 3000-4000 but lets see if I can get to 2000 words of quality content first!) and also some relevant content that talks about things broader in the niche (I don't care if these rank I just want my long tails to rank in the main pillar articles)
Some web2.0 back linking and some social shares to make the site feel / look more real. Maybe build up a bit of a fake community presence with some comments on the blog as well
Build up my PBN and link that back for some juice
Hopefully bank a little bit of money!
Track everything!
Extend out the niche or start another site using the same steps after lessons learnt.

My first goal is to make $10 per day with this site (I think it should be able to earn more but its my first small goal!)

I've almost finished up my first bout of keyword research which will serve as my first lot of content so I can start putting content on the site. I am currently on the hunt for the domain. Should be back with an update tomorrow.

Thanks guys, I'm currently on the first stage of Keyword research trying to narrow down a niche that I want to go for. What I am currently struggling with is if I should go super buyer focussed and only aim for buyer keywords (i.e the top 10 washing machines) or go a bit more broader with it (i.e general information about washing machines). I am going to pop a question in Hekke's journey thread to see what hes doing (copy cat hehe).

DAY 2:
What have I Done?
Well today I have picked the niche and got the domain (expired aged domain with backlinks) and hosting with word press installed!

Domain Metrics: DA 15, PA, 25, CF 22, TF21 so pretty happy with those metrics especially since it has a keyword which is featured in a lot of the long tails and slightly broader search terms I am aiming to rank for. The sites history on waybackmachine is very relevant to the niche and so are the back links that are currently pointed to it. Domain is also over 10 years old (which I don't believe has as much weighting as it once did but every little helps).

Keyword research the first bout has been done which look relatively low competition (I am using longtailpro as a guide and manually checking the backlinks as well but I am going to create the content for all these keywords to bulk up the site anyway to make it seem a bit more authoritative on the subject and to make it seem like a better site to visitors as well and then focus on the keywords that seem to be ranking themselves with little effort).

I have 55 keywords filtered that appear to be low competition all with searches above 1000 (some reaching to almost 10k local US searches) so I am pretty hopefull for traffic just need to see how well it converts if I can even rank it!

So the next steps are to:
Finish up the wordpress site setup, install the plugins I need, stop backlink checkers from accessing it etc in case I end up using a PBN to keep that safe. Currently I have a free theme on there but when traffic starts to come I may change that to a better design. Then I need to start writing some posts for it

this is going to be the hardest part as I have never really done content creation but I want to dip my toe in it to see how well I can do and then when I finally start to outsource it ill be in a better position to let people know what I want and what I expect.

I am going to be continuing with a few more bits tonight then I'll be back with another update tomorrow.

Ill also update the thread with traffic information once I start getting the stats up on the site

I never got around to posting an update yesterday!

So originally I wanted to write all the articles myself but I am slow at writing them! So I have outsourced some to be written (3 articles 1000 words each for each pretty long tail and don't appear to be too much competition). I have two articles written as well which are published and I have sent them to a link indexer. About page, contact page and TOS Privacy policy page has also been completed. Lets see where they start to come up in the serps in a few days.

I may not be updating this journey every day as I am sure you don't want constant updates of "I wrote another article today" So ill do them in bigger batches and start updating with (hopefully) some traffic information

Ah yeah I should of done, it was pretty cheap anyway to be honest that was like $10 for the year. If the site starts generating good traffic then I will move it to a more premium hosting anyway but thanks for the reminder! To be honest i'm hoping I can rank the site a little bit to get some traffic before christmas ends and no one has any money for a couple of months!

Okay so ordered 10 more articles which should be delivered soon 1k length each. The two articles that I wrote I allowed google start indexing the site today. And one of them is currently ranked 54 in google! ... not too shabby for a keyword with 2,400 US searches per month and no backlinks too it. I'll update you with the google dance
