I have setup a lot of different autoblogs. Some I spent a lot of time on individual sites making them look almost like a person was updating them. Others I went more "generic" with as many as 6 domains with 5 subdomains each all interlinking with free sites acting as "buffers" and all links going one direction to avoid any possibility of reciprocal links.

The one thing I've learned is that for an autoblog to be successful you need a way of building links. I think a lot of people setup autoblogs and somehow expect that the automatic content generation will take care of link building (which it can in some cases).

At one point this might have been true but now "auto blog" is one of the most common phrases someone new to making money online will hear. There are a ton of them out there. You can make yours rise above the rest with a solid backlinking strategy for both the main site and each individual post.

You can use OnlyWire with the autosubmission plugin for every post and go back and do the captchas manually at the end of the day. In addition to this get a list of your posts at the end of the day and build 2-3 directory links to each of them. You can also do a miniature linkwheel of 3 sites for each post.

This is obviously a lot more effort but it allows your entire site and each individual post to avoid the "Google bullshit index" as I call it which is where 99% of auto blog posts go now.

Anyway, just thought I'd share my method for success with autoblogs. All the rest is known by everyone (as far as making sites). I've just noticed this actually results in income and traffic whereas before I would get a steady number of impressions every day from the short time my posts were "fresh" until they dropped into oblivion.

Really it's all about the content you use. If you use the same content generators other people use you're going to have a tough time. Content really is king.. the more unique yours is the better. And of course without backlinks an autoblog is going to have a tough time.

It's better to have a few high PR backlinks then 100 no pr back links though.

I had a site that generated really nice unique content. Even pulled from twitter, youtube, digg, and google news to supplement the story content I was using. Was getting essentially zero traffic and no clicks until I implemented the backlinking stuff above. I had done the "Auto Blogs on Crack" stuff like submitting RSS feed, etc already. Just pointing out that you have to go a step beyond to get anywhere useful.

content is king ! but even if a surfer gets duplicate content abt the same niche from various sites on one autoblog he will save time !! so auto blogs are not alltogether useless !!

I have built my autoblog up within 4 months with dupe content from everywhere, never have done any backlinking and have just let it build naturally, a few days ago i broke the 10000 uniques border, getting over 1500 visitors per day now and the traffic just never stops coming. Just thought i would drop in my 2 cents that backlink building isnt the only way to get a good traffic by the hoards website but im lazy and probs could outrank just about any site out there for just about any keyword if i wasnt.

In my case, and with more than 20 autoblogs running, I have implemented a backlink strategy through 3 different linking systems.

It has worked for me pretty much.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what do you consider "some initial seo"?
Doing the right KW research or what?

I believe he means link building, directory submission, etc. (basically what is mentioned in the first post)

OP: Really, this is what I have been doing with my autoblog. I haven't been seeing much traffic yet, but I am working on it. I may be focusing too much on just one blog when I should be spreading it out.

Hmm. I think this autoblog thing is contagious. I'm actually developing the urge to create several of my own.

i have an autoblog as well its been building up links and posting content every single day. last month i had 500 unique visitors. which is about 16 Unique visitors per day. i know its not that much but over time it multiplies. correct?

Now when it comes to backlinks. i have a questions i hear different answers. Does it take about 3 months before any REAL traffic comes. when i say REAL traffic i mean like 1000s per day ?

I think doing a linkwheel to each post might be a good idea, but what if you have like 10 posts a day? It will take forever to do the linkwheel
