I still don't see why you guys consider this to be '' bad '' or somehow unwanted ... seriously lol ... even if they take down a domain that's don't means they can stop pirated materials ... I don't see on other hand how many cell brains alive someone can have to use their real names associated with such '' arguable domains '' lol ...

Let me picture this a little bit for you more easy . let's say , you are making serious bank with some pirated videos/movies/music/softwares/books anything right ... they come and took your so loved crappy domain ... just go to any registrar , get a new domain , reupload your '' yesterday '' backup ... and you are back in bizz ... wtf ... where is the point to actually '' cry '' about a domain when you know from start it's '' not good to play with this '' :)

There will spring up a new niche in IM. If after x amount of time one of these SOPA like legislation passes then I predict that someone will come up with a search engine that will index and put people in touch with those "Naughty" websites coz eventually Google will have no choice but to de-index them.

And the few that have the guts, there will be a niche for "offshore hosting" that don't give a crap about the FBI's etc. and they will make big money hosting file sharing and movie/warez sites.

well google with sure will be forced to deindex those kind of sites associated with piracy in general ( actually they are doing pretty good job [ or at least they try ] ). Thing is ... if those '' niches '' will be put outside of the law ( more strongly and firmly like they are now I mean ) , then there will be no point to any offshore registrar / offshore hosting since none will can handle them at all .

Well there will be hosting companies that dont give a f@Ck about the US's law. Countries like Sweden and Iceland are pro freedom of the internet. Thats why wiki leaks and piratebay are hosted in those countries.

There wont be many hosting companies daring to go down that route but those few that will dare will have no competition! :)

wrong wrong wrong :) they simply ignore the dcma notices :) ... well they don't ignore them , they just state on their TOS , those dcma notices will not be processed by them , will be processed by the owner of the sites ( hosted on their servers ) .... STILL they don't bother to pass them to '' you '' .... Thing is ... those dcma notices aren't have legal strength behind them you know ... it's like an toilet paper at the end of the day . Trust me you can't host anything '' illegal '' in those servers no matter where they will be hosted ( for example an illegal material it's phishing attack sites / spreading viruses / illegal content and so on ) .... Why those pirated material sites are hosted offshore it's because pirated material isn't '' illegal '' per se ... the owner of the copyright can try to send you only the dcma notice lol ... instead of hard action like you ( if you are into hosting bizz ) will get when you will try to force your luck to host some seriously illegal shits there :D ...

The hosting companies go offshore not to pretect your ass but there own
If you host content on them and you live in the us or uk you will still have to go by your countries laws, so if you host this crap offshore or not they come for you, if they can trace you

Hosting companies that are offshore that dont care about a DMCA, can take on clients that want to host companies ... if they do that of course they want to protect themselves, but if you do it, its because you dont want your site taken down every-time a person sends a DMCA to the hosting compnay.

Forgot to mention that the website owners got arrested, so it's quite hard for them to setup a new "crappy" domain :)

keinehabe: You got a fake verified account by paypal when you photoshopped your license, passport, bank account, fake business registration and so on so forth...? your name will lead to a paper trail, i.e. a bank account unless you signed up with a fake name for your bank, which is more than likely not going to happen - I think you can be charged criminally for that one.

    ^Thats 2 words.

Anyway I think the future will be P2P itself and not file-sharing sites as sooner or later they will fall.
