I've noticed that there are hundreds of music sharing blogs around at the moment, you know the ones, somebody posts album artwork, tracklist and maybe some random review or wiki entry about an album with a link to [rapid|mega|super|file][upload|share|factory] etc etc...

I've noticed that these sites are mostly on blogspot. Is there any reason for this? Since I can easily set up my own wp install and customise it wayy more than blogspot etc offer, is there any reason blogspot is better? I'd rather have it on my own domain with my own setup but I figure if everyone else is on blogspot there must be a reason for it?

well that's considered warez.. so if your host allows warez, go ahead.
even if your only linking to the files, most hosts will shut you down

and most of that people who share using blogspot (or other free blogs), are doing it just because they like and don't want to pay for hosting domain etc.. or maybe they have the warez listed on the blogspot and have a link to their website in the files name.

warez? really? that makes sense I guess. It's a bloody minefield these days. Can't even link to downloads. How on earth do rapidshare etc get away with it? I mean, almost every link I've ever seen on rapidshare is pirated music or software. If I'm not even allowed to link to it, how can they host it?
