I bought 'crack the skye' yesterday and it is honestly AMAZING!
I usually torrent my albums but I heard 1 song and was so impressed I bought it for $22AUD with a dvd. I feel like I ripped them off.

When I hear some fresh inspiring music I feel the urge to let as many people know about it as possible, so have a listen :)
    Anyone else a fan?

If you like queens of the stone age & tool you will probably like these guys. I can't really think of any other bands to compare them to. This album has a touch of pink floyd & king crimson influence imo.

Ta for the heads up, as a fan of Mastodon I'm sure I'll check this out, I wouldn't really expect many others here to though, its not exactly mass market is it? ;)

Not sure I like you comparing them to those bands though...

    No worries man,
This new album is pretty different to their old stuff. You will see what I mean when you have a listen. Mastodon's older stuff isn't really comparable to these bands. I wouldn't say they sound like qotsa & tool, i meant that if you like those bands there is a good chance you will like this album.

There is a recording of josh homme from queens of the stone age at the end of their blood mountain album, he was featured in 'Colony of Birchmen.' I can deffinately see influence between the two bands, but thats just my opinion.

I figured if this post informs one other person of this awesome music being around it was worth it aha. There is so much shit music around that it is really hard to sift through it to find something decent.

    peace
