Hey guys,
I have Site A, it's ranking #3 for a 50k exact match, pulling big traffic, but I'm no longer going to be selling the product on the site.
I now have Site B, selling a different product, very slightly related (bodybuilding niche, that's the ONLY thing in common). I don't see the point in just turning off the old site - I want to keep some of the link juice. It has a HEAP of High-PR backlinks .etc, It's PR3, and seems like a good candidate to 301.
Here is my plan:
1. 301 Redirect to an article page on Site B, about Site A's Keyword.
2. Use a canonical tag on Site B's article page pointing to the Home Page, and have a snippet of info with Site A's keyword strategically placed on the home page (Like a 200-word snipper and a H3 tag).
What are your thoughts? Is this worth doing?
Should I perhaps just 301 directly to the home-page of Site B?
Cheers guys.
