    Okay,
So I have been working as a developer in an MNC for past two years.

    My Story
I am a developer (Java). I have been doing great but the way corporate jobs work was killing me. Monotonous routine , Office Politics (though I was good at it :p) , limitations and boss .. these made me feel like I don't want to do this rest of my life.

Since the past year I have been thinking to do something else and not be stuck into the corporate job cycle waiting for appraisals. The work load was not much but still I did not left me any energy to do something part time online or offline.

So I took the big step. I Resigned.

    What I am doing now?
I am looking into various business ideas which can be done.
I am starting with the most basic which I know. Tutoring .

    Why Tutoring?
    • I have been a bright student in my school . (Almost always topped the class) , Have great academic records to show and I am totally clear with all concepts and basics which means I do not have to do much self work to teach.
    • Home Tutorials (Students Come To Your Place) are very popular in my country because of lot of students and very less quality teachers.
    • Not much investment and it would take only 2 hours a day from my time and should earn a steady basic income to look into other things.
    • Have taught some students previously , I loved teaching and students too gave very positive reviews.

    My Goals?

I was making around 800$ a month in my previous job from which around 500$ was spent in expenses for living in my Job city (Home rent, food etc.) and travelling to my home town every second week. So my net saving was 200$ a month.

Goal 1: Quickly Reach 300$ a month to ensure loss of earning from job gets covered.
Goal 2: Look into other business or expanding this and not get caught in the comfort zone.
Will make more goals after that.

    Where I am doing now?
I am still in my notice period( 90 days in total) so there are still around 40 days I need to serve in my current job.

    Market Study

In my home town there are already several home-tuitions going on but since every year new students come so there are new customers one can try getting.
So internet marketing can just be an addition but not main marketing source.
Internet in my home town is being used mostly for Facebook , Whatsapp, Instagram as of now. Not many people use internet though.

    What I have started?
    Teaching Location Preprations
I got the outer rooms of my home prepared for this purpose. Have got them painted , Got some Student Chairs (with book rest on sides), Got a white Board and an Air-Conditioner in the room.
These are basic necessity but most other teachers in area teach simply in their living rooms so I hope such classroom ambiance would help convince students/parents.

    Made a facebook Page
Made a fb page for this. Would become handy while getting reviews from students and while advertising with facebook.

    Added to Google Business
I added the location to google Business. They have sent the verification by post should reach in 15 days as they say.

    Making a Website
I am making a website which would add credibility to the prospective students and parents.

Getting a Flex sheet Printed to be fixed just outside the teaching place.
Okay I created a Flex sheet design and have sent it for printing .. Once it comes I would get that fixed on a board and place it outside the teaching place. I have also ordered another copy of flex sheet but would need to see if I can get some place to fix it on main road where more people can see. This is what I created. Used an online service for making it as I am not good with Photoshop.

I have also looked a little on online tutoring. And was wondering about getting some online clients and teaching them too. Eventually I can keep teachers for teaching online whom I would provide internet and required setup. Would look more into this later once I am over with my notice period though.

If you people have any suggestions for Marketing please Suggest. Some innovative Offline methods would be most effective because as I said internet penetration is not much in my area.

    Would keep this updated.

    Hi
We have similar vision. Here in HK tutor can earn a lot because everything here is extra class and what not for students and parent love to spend cash on tutorial. But renting place is a big problem here since it is one of the most expensive place in the world per square feet =_=.

So I thought of app to book a quality tutor, kinda like tinder apps but for tutor and parents.

Anyway for your marketing geeks I thought a lot too before...here are some I can share with you..
    1. Make a short and good weekly or daily video tutorial on famous concepts and explain it and share it in fb and YT. And in intro and extra you put your bio or tutorial info but don't hard sell it. Then soon people will sign up.

    2. It is worth promoting your poster and video ads(your case I think video ads will do well but try both) in your local area since you can pin point your target audience in FB ads. Honestly I think getting client through FB ads is so under Price at the Moment (I know this because I do shopify and fb ads)

    3. Joint high school fb page, local student page and try answering their Q&A but don't hard sell your tutorial service.

In long run I thin you can run a tutorial service where you built good database of information of students and tutor. Remember if you have one student try to know their family size and if they have any brother and sister and what age, which school etc...These info you can get while you teach and then record it well from the start so that you can keep track of everything and Moneytize it :)

    All the best Buddy.

If nothing works mere leaflets and start collectting phone numbers especially from chain msg..And cold call them ;) or pay phone service tower to SMS anyone near that area. So powerful!!

If it's beginning of the semester, approach to bookstores which students buy text books from usually only few in town

Or approach school and make a deal with them to run a tutorial class after school or in weekend. Some school does that here in HK

PS sorry for multiple posts man, just excited to share more of my idea lol

The book store Idea is nice. I did not thought about it. Yes I will keep some pamphlets and talk to some stationary /Book store owners about this.
About multiple posts no problem at all I am totally getting as much ideas as I can at this moment.Thanks.

Something like Udemy and will not work in my case. Reason being First language of people I am going to teach is not English although the books and syllabus everything is in English Medium mostly. The major problem those guys have is they can not really understand what the book author is trying to say. This would remain so in videos too unless I make them in native language which would become too small an audience. If I make tutorials on Udemy in English haha.. My accent will bring the whole site down. :D (I m improving it though :))

Regarding accent - I dont think it would be problem, since there are a lot of tutors with accents and selling a lot of courses. Depends how bad is your accent :)
