    Hi Guys,

I know this subject has been done to death but having done a search and read numerous threads on BHW I am a little confused and was hoping some one could help.

I am looking to start a movie/tv show site but have read conflicting reports that these type of sites may not worth perusing as they are being removed very quickly or people are receiving letters asking for the sites to be taken down.

A friend and I are looking at embedding videos from numerous other sites on our site and were under the impression that this would be ok as we are not hosting the videos. Is this correct?

We were thinking of hosting this site on dreamhost. Does anyone know if this would be an issue? Or should we look for an offshore hosting?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

You need hosting in a country where DMCA or whatever does not apply. I do run a movie site - actually not movies but series.

It grabs the current episode off an ftp server, and posts it on a website in mp4 format so it can be viewed online without downloading.

I get some takedown notices here and there to the address specified in the whois records ( both IP and domain ) but since US laws don't apply here I just ignore them. I don't even use proxies / bouncers.

So just host the site in a country where they don't care.
Running the site in the US would be a really bad idea.

    Thanks Wkirk.

Do you know which countriesI should be looking at and which hosts are good to use in those countries?

Also, how have you monetized your site?

I run my own hosting company so I cannot help you with that... reason is obvious :)

Delayed playback. The movie starts, then after 5 mins it stops and offers the user to support the site. So they see the donate option each time they watch something. Then can just click no and ignore it.

Other than that no further restrictions or ads of any kind.
People like clean sites and are willing to donate if you offer them what they want.
