    Hi there,
My business relies on the local keywords for the regions we cover.

A you know with google places since the end of 2010 Google combined google places with the top 10 SERPs and also made them a lot larger than they used to be so being in that block is what everyone now wants.

With google places you can only have 1 place per website to target the home page from which is on the google places profile. our home page targets 80% of our keywords and ranks well for the local keywords.

We also have a local keyword that is on a sub page /sub-page.html. This ranks just under the local keywords of our competitors.
We would like google to change this keyword to target our home page so we can take advantage of the google local block and get nearer the top for this keyword.

How would be the best way to do this?
I?m thinking of 301 re-direct /sub-page.html to the home page and optimize the home page more to include the KW of the sub page?
also then build some links optimizing for the sub page to the home page.
if anyone has experice with doing this please do advise. We also dont want to kill our other ranks so though to ask here first.

    thanks,
    mike
