    Hi,

I've heard that if you search for a domain name on Godaddy and don't buy it instantly that they register the name themselves, is this true ?

If this is correct, which companies would you recommend, where you can search particular domain names without the fear of it being poached by the Domain Registrar.

That's not true I tried it a lot of times, and the domains that I searched for if they are available are still available last time I check, even those domains I have putted in my cart but not bought it.

I have never had any problems with registering domains after I searched for them a few weeks down the line.

Domain poaching does happen, but don't worry about it

I have never had an issue like that with any registrar. Its very possible that it is simply a coincidence and another person is considering registering the domain at the exact same time. It is also very possible there is a corrupt employee at Godaddy, but it is certainly no program that Godaddy has in place to do this automatically, it would cost them too much money. There are millions of available domains searched every day there.

Thanks for the reply's guys, I was a bit weary about checking out too many domain names in case they got poached, but you've put my mind at ease :)
