If you glance at my join date, you'll see that I've been around awhile. I came here a long time ago, back when Auto blogs, link wheels, and MFA sites were all the rage. I don't want to say I half-@ssed an attempt at doing some IM'ing, because that would overestimate my effort greatly. I did, however get some web hosting, buy a couple of domains, throw a few things up there, get an Adsense account, and over the years accumulated lifetime Adsense earnings of around $75. I long since let everything fall apart though, to the point that my hosting account was canceled. Now I find myself back at this site for different reasons than the first time around, and hopefully with a little more willpower to get a few things done.

My first goal is to get a consistent $1/day of Adsense earnings. Exciting, I know. You might be asking why am I setting such a ridiculously low goal. Well, there's an old saying: the first million is the hardest. I think it applies here. If I can earn $1/day with Adsense, it's not that much of a stretch to double it, and then double it again. And you don't have to poke around here for long to realize that there are much better ways to monetize organic traffic than Adsense. Changing up my monetization method could easily multiply those Adsense earnings again.

So with that said, here I go !

Best of Luck! The first $1 is always the hardest. You'll be surprised how it flows after that!

Good luck with the journey Mo. You got a timescale on your plan ? I reckon with semi effort you should be able to hit $1 in 2-3 weeks, interesting to see how you scale it after that.

Someone asked if I should set a time frame of 2-3 weeks. Honestly I'd be beyond thrilled if I hit that. I was thinking more like 1-2months. I just kind of figured it would take 2-3 weeks just to get indexed, but guess we'll see how it goes.

I'm starting off by trying to take stock of my assets. Thinking about what I have on my side, first and foremost, in the words of Kenny Powers, I have a "c*ck like a burmese python, and the mind of a f#cking scientist".. obviously the mind part is going to help more in this exercise, hopefully, but I'm not going to rule anything out at this stage of the game.

First order of business, I've ordered a microniche site from a BHW marketplace guy. Huge thread with positive reviews. I'm hoping to add my positive review to the mix. Yeah I outsourced it but I realized that Google completely changed it's Keyword tool and it seems not as easy to use, and picking keywords/a niche is important (I think). I'm going to try to find a keyword tool to use, because I feel like that's something that I need to do myself long term.

That aside, I have 5 domains that are leftovers from days of old. One of these is a .info that I'd categorize as strictly MFA. As I glance up and down the Adsense stats it's displaying an unreal 10% CTR on 700 impressions. That's where the bulk of my historic $75 came from. Maybe I shouldn't have let that one fall by the wayside. Another domain was used as an autoblog and had the remaining Adsense earnings. The third domain is gambling related and never had Adsense (or earned money) and last two were never used for anything and are fairly generic. So I have a few assets. Literally nothing is set up on these guys anymore, so I'm working on putting on Adsense, Analytics, and Webmaster tools. I've also got a few blogger's from 2009ish with really no links in/out, but they're old and have had Adsense on them. Better than nothing, but maybe not by much.

Dumb questions, but do people still bother with the free/easy backlinks from all those webstats/website or traffic evaluation sites, etc? And do we still ping every site for everything? I put up a quick blogspot and threw it into a couple of those "free 100 link" type engines and got literally nothing out of it. Not sure whether those links don't work anymore, or whether their pingers got shut down for spam, or both, but just trying to determine how to start backlinking. I realize link wheels are out and pyramids are in, but what's at the bottom of the pyramid?

Oh, also, I realized that I paid for a ScrapeBox account in 2008 and never actually used/actived it (whoops). Hope they still honor my license! :)

Don't rely solely on Google/SEO, there are other means to bring traffic into your site. One of the easiest way is through Social Media - Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram etc. If your niche isn't entirely social or an ugly niche (think of acnes, health problems etc), you can go for targeted traffic via forums and answer boards (Yahoo Answers, ask.com) etc.

Best of luck in your journey! Keep us posted.
