Can anyone explain to me why when I post a url in the thread the thread is not posted and I am told that I am not allowed for being too new? After 3 years of being a member? What do I have to do to be allowed? I have so much to contribute to the forum and not being able to post urls limits my possibility of contributing.

You need around 50-75 posts before you are able to post links.

There are ways to contribute without posting links.

Replace letters with numbers, split them up in parts or put them in code tags.

Quit sitting on the sidelines. Features of the forum are based on participation, not age.

Being a member of the forum and being a contributing member are 2 different things. 3 years and 12 posts doesn't come across as a contributing member.

You can offer insite without links as many other members here do.

ROFL, you've actually been here less than 3 years and have only 12 posts. What are you craving as you say "so much to contribute" in the forum?

Well, this forum is full of ideas and don't think mine will add much... but I do have a lot of software that I usually buy and I could share but not being able to post links makes it impossible to share anything, not having the ability to post links is just what hindered me from making posts at all. I participate in 5 more forums where I was not limited to post links from the very beginning and I contribute there. Here they give me the excuse that they have put the limitation to prevent spam. Is it really the purpose?

Do you realise how much spam a forum like BHW gets every day? If you knew, you'd probably retract that statement. The moderators are VERY proactive in removing spam, so most of the time it gets removed in <5 mins so you'll rarely notice it.

What other logic would there be for doing it? I don't know why any forum would want to restrict members from posting quality content, but I'm also not sure why you feel being able to post links is the only way to contribute. I have over 2000 posts here and I rarely post any links at all.

    Dunno just post the links0.
Use something like that, if pple want it badly enough, they'll do the 10 seconds work to get it.

Ok, I'll follow Nick1 idea and see if the link gets posted. Thanks for everybody's advice.

I hope the post that you do that in gets deleted as that is just skirting the rules by making an adjustment so the link is not a live link.

Well, Nick1 is recommending it so I assume he has posted this way.... does the rule apply to all or to a few? If it applies to all, all the postings I have seen with this kind of url should have been deleted.

If posting urls was so important to you, you would think you would get your post count up so you can post urls. Quit whining and start posting why is that so hard? Im not tryin to dog you , its just that you cant have self entitlement from a forum like bhw when it provides so much more than any other forum
