    Hi guys :)

    What sort of sources do you guys use to feed you Social Media bots?

    At the moment I'm only botting facebook and twitter, and I feed my accounts with a mixture of;

    - pre-downloaded/sorted images
    - random quotes from a massive quotes database
    - random jokes from a massive jokes database
    - scraped and spun bio data from other sites

    Moving forward with my bot adventures, I'd like to start pulling current and more "human like" content, maybe dynamically instead of from a big text based database.

    I'm thinking ;
    Sports based posts like match results and reactions
    local news
    local events/gigs/etc
    anything else really

    Do any of you feed your bots dynamically with current content or anything like that?

    Any ideas of good places to get fresh stuff to post with my social media bots?

    Thanks :)

    I think creating bots for other social networks and then regularly scraping, spinning and posting content from the feeds of real people would make your bots look as life-like as possible. You could also scrape some pics from the real accounts for your bots to post as their own. In a way the idea is to use real user behavior and just copy it instead of trying to create it. As long as you can automate that, you'll be golden.

    Thanks i was thinking along those sorts of lines too, the scraping data/content/etc itself is not too hard, working out the best logic and where to scrape is where I'm at right now and I'm finding it a little more tricky to setup for long term.

    I mean a super simple setup could be -
    search a topic/keyword on tumblr
    set the scraper to search for certain posts (either popular post for virality or dead/non popular posts to stay under radar)
    pull and spin any text, and post onto bot accounts.

    I personally think that's too simple though, but I could easily be making things more complicated in my head than it needs to be lol, thats kinda why I made the thread too, get some fresh perspective :)

    Do you have any large database of jokes you can share? I've been trying to get one on Google, but no luck so far. I did find a 60k quotes database though which is nice. Let me know so we can trade :) in case you don't have quotes that is..

    Some post types I currently feed my bots are:
    Text-based - quotes, jokes (my database at the moment has very few jokes, something like 1k, hence why I'm looking for help), super spin posts in the format: doing X thing in X location with X friends.

    "things" is a spintax list of all possible things a human can do (eating, driving, going for a walk, watching a movie etc...); "locations" is a list of all possible locations (cities/states/countries as well as attractions such as restaurants, cinemas, etc..); and "friends" is a list of all the friends (my other profiles) where 1 or 2 are chosen randomly. This kind of post is not posted often though (maybe 1-3 times per week) as it makes sense, because most real people do it like that. I have not finished yet with the spintax though, as I need to make it as big as possible, to have it generate random posts virtually "forever", but when I finish I will share it.

    Image-based posts - Using a scraper (ScrapeBox), I pull thousands of images from Google, Flickr and Pinterest based on keywords.

    Link-based - YouTube (using a scraper based on keywords), 9gag, leaked videos, funny videos, news articles, etc... basically anything you can think of.

    RSS Feeds - VERY powerful and useful! Virtually any website has rss feeds that are updated daily/hourly, so put a few dozen of those in your bots to check the feeds in regular intervals and you have content forever!

    Thanks for your input buddy :) I particularly like the "Spintax Doing Things" idea, cant believe I havent plugged that into my own bots yet !!

    I've been using a little bit of links and sharing from popular + my own pages etc, but have not gotten around to using RSS feeds to feed the social posts yet, I'll look into that this weekend. What do you do with the RSS, do you use it to scrape and repost the actual content, or just links to the content?

    RE jokes database, I have struggled to find a decent one too. I basically ended up on http://www.textfiles.com/humor/JOKES/ and downloaded a lot of the files from there, spent ages sorting out a workable list of jokes. I havent gone through every file on that page yet coz it took some work sorting and cleaning them, but so far I have about 4.5k of jokes both Long form and short Q+A form. PM on its way :)

    Thanks again for sharing your tips :)

    You can also get real looking personal profile images. I was thinking more along those lines because that is something that is quite difficult to do. Most real profiles upload real looking personal images on regular basis and you can see that it's the same person.

    Thanks :)

    I do try and make sure I use picture "sets" with a range of images of the same person. I've usually had good luck finding good sets of images by searching for "ewhore picture packs", and by scraping profiles of other lesser social networks and community sites, one of which i've used a lot for that purpose is called hunnyhive.

    Well, it depends on the kind of website you are getting the feed from, but most of the time I just share the link and since FB generates a preview automatically with image & description, it looks nice. I may also use the titles coming from the feed as the text-based comment when you share it, if it makes sense of course.
    Thanks for the website, I replied to your PM as well, have a look at it, I also shared a couple more things with you regarding this subject ;)
